It is so important to have carseats installed properly (UPSETTING) *UPDATED*
An accident on the thruway yesterday, killed a 3yr old. Makes me want to go get my carseat checked right now...
and to make it worse that is my car, scary to see it on its top like that

I can't tell you how sickening that is... Thank you for posting this. I'm going to make arrangements for a new car seat tonight for Joseph. The booster seat I have him in doesn't seem secure enough. I've been putting it off because we only go around the corner to school.

very sad I wonder how the child wasn't properly secured in the carseat though? It doesn't say if the carseat was installed wrong or if he wasn't buckled in. So tragic either way

OMG, just awful!! We recently had our carseats inspected when we moved our infant into a convertible seat. I just *feel* better when a pro makes sure we did it right.

Sometimes the seats are just not installed properly or the child has a thick heavy coat in between the straps and their body, thus giving so much room that there is no real way of keeping the baby still in an accident.

How incredibly sad.  Reminds me of my dumb mommy moment when Andrew was 4 months old. I had him in his car seat and we stopped for lunch. I took him out, fed him, put him back in with out the straps, went on my merry way shopping. I'm coming home from Tanger going 70 miles per hour on the LIE when I glance in the mirror and realize I put the carseat in the car without doing his straps!  Thankfully my sister was in the car and could climb back and buckle him up. I'll never do that again!
The past few days I've read so much about accidents, from the LIE one to one in the next town, to this one. Babies or not, I am saddened by it all.

the little girl unbuckled her belt I know kids can do this, but you hope that nothing happens before you can notice and correct it

how sad My daughter sometimes gets her arms out of the shoulder straps, but she doesn't even bother with the buckle yet. Something to definitely remember for the future. So sad for that family
