Are just blinds a decent window treatment?
We recently had our first floor redone and our contractor created some truly gorgeous woodwork for us - crown moulding at the ceiling and doorways and a combo of decorative moulding and crown moulding on the windows. The dilemma, if you want to call it that, is that I have beautiful windows that have woodwork that just cant (because of how far out from the wall they sit) and shouldnt be covered with curtains. For the windows facing the back of my house, I have opted for roman shades but for the bay window in the front, I dont know if I want something that is solid as a roman shade is. Another option would be wood blinds so I can have the blinds themselves open but still have them completely down. But is this enough of a window treatment? I dont want to custom order and find out I hate the look after spending all that $$. Im also open to other options if anyone has any suggestions.

Re: Are just blinds a decent window treatment?
Liz, on my 9-ft. front window in the living room, I have 2" wooden blinds (3 of them corresponding to each section of the window) and I recently took the curtains I had down and I like it so much better! Its brighter and makes the space look bigger. I ended up putting up a small valence across and I think that is all it needs. No need to go with full curtains, maybe a valence or a scarf topper.
