Mommies that ordered cribs through JcPenneys

If you don't mind me asking, which cribs did you get? Are you happy with it? Did you buy them online?

I know Steph ordered one for Nate because it's the same one I got for Jack.

We have the Emily Crib. I don't think she has had problems with hers. But Jack has been in his since the first week and even though it was Honey OAK the wood is pine and super soft and imo crazy for a convertible crib that should last my son for a long time.

If you have pets don't get it. I have a dog and a cat. If my dog's tags even touch it or a paw the wood gets messed up. When my husband lowers it if the metal touches it slightly it gets messed up. Attaching a Mobile or the Ocean Wonders Aquarium it can easily get messed up. Wearing rings, watches, having a belt on it can easily get scratched up.

On babycenter and BRU it comes somewhat highly recommend but in most cases it was from newborn parents and a few of them came back after some months and wrote complaints. My son is 8 months and I am constantly filling the wood and have touch up from the company.

It bothers me alot because my parents purchased the crib and changer for my son and it was 350+ and it truely is a shame what it looks like it some parts.

Also my son is now grabbing at everything and standing up in his crib his own short nails scratch it up :(

Edited to add. I have purchased other furniture thru them and they were Great!

Like Laurie said we have the same crib (Emily from Million Dollar Baby). My mom works at JCPenney, so she ordered it through the catalog department and had it shipped to me in Chicago.

Nate still sleeps most nights in his co-sleeper in our bedroom, we really haven't used it much. I did notice that when I took the mobile off the rail there was a mark from the pressure. This might be something with this particular manufacturer, so I'm not discouraging you from buying from JCPenney. My mom has lots of furniture from them and never had any issues.

Thread crashing here.
The problems that Laurie had is the main reason we would not buy any set that was pine. We have a convertible crib (not JCPenney) and want her furniture to last a long time and everyone I spoke with said pine is very soft and marks very easily.

Yup, we were stupid because we weren't able to see it in person and could only order it online. We don't live in LI and don't have any real baby stores of BRU nearby. It's a great crib and sturdy as all heck but I think they are scam artists (the company not pennys) to sell a convertible made of Pine under the name Honey Oak thats what we get for assuming that hey its convertible and 300+.

I read after my son was in it for a few months, one comment on it of a women who purchased it in Cherry and her son has been teething on it and she had pictures and it looked sooooooooo bad.

Note :The blankets over the railing protecting it now :(

I ordered my crib online from JC Penney - I love it! I can't remember what it was called, and I just looked and they do not have it anymore. It is a convertible crib and it is white - I actually ordered the matching changing table, armoir and toy chest as well. The toy chest came damaged, and after a lot of dealing with their customer service department, they gave us a refund. Overall it was a good experience.

Re: Mommies that ordered cribs through JcPenneys

Thanks Girls - I think the biggest issue I am having, is that I can't see it before I order it, to see if it is worth it or not.

I fell in love with this crib
- and I don't know what to do.

I just called JcPenneys - they have no idea what it is made out of - but they are going to find out and have information forwarded to me.

Honestly it has been my experience that most cribs that are inexpensive are made of pine or combo type woods that don't wear well like pine. Of course this isn't always the case and I am sure you can get a bargain at times but I am learning with furniture that you get what you pay for.
Really you just have to ask yourself how long you want it to last. If you love it and don't want it for a bed or for the next baby then get it and just know you'll have to replace it at some point.

Pine is a very soft wood. My coffee table is made of pine and it scratches and get gouges in it very easily.

It is a beautiful crib though...

I bought my daughter's crib on-line through JCP and love it. This is a pic of the crib we got. It converts to a daybed and then to a full-size headboard and footboard. We got the cognac color though.

Marcie,
BRU had a similar crib that I loved, but we didnt get it because the front didnt drop down and if you see how its raised in the middle? It would have made it hard for me (at a little over 5 ft tall) to lean in and get her out.

Marcie, I suggest finding out who the manufacturer is and then look on their website to see if it's carried at other stores like BRU, Burlington's Baby Depot or even BBB. Most of those stores have display models for you to see.

Good Luck!

I spoke to JcPenneys today - you know they said they didn't know Chat Icon
But I found out it is made from Pine. DH and I are going to go to BBB tomorrow and see if there any cribs there that we might like.
Besides BBB, BRU, Baby Depot and Behrs are there any other places I should check out for cribs?

If you know the manufacturer and Baby Depot carries it, any of their stores can order it, even if they don't have it on display.
