Bad Skin...need recommendations

I stopped taking my BC about 3 - 6 months ago and now my skin is terrible Chat Icon I've been breaking out like a teenager again and it is so embarrassing Chat Icon I have a derm appointment tomorrow and I am hoping he gives me some type of antibiotic...anyone have any recommendations on what I should ask for???

TIA!!

P.S - I told my DH that I feel like that kid in the old clerasil commercial... where they are in a pizza parlor and one of them holds up the pepporni slice and goes "who does this reming you of" Chat Icon

How's your diet? Certain foods can cause to break outs, ex. the iodine in shellfish, peanut butter. For me dairy and sugar trigger breakouts.

Don't forget that if you get an oral antibiotic, it may make rthe BC less effective

ETA: Sorry you're right...I read it as "I started taking"...duh.

My friend took Acutane and it worked like a miracle, but the side effects are major. I've heard good things about proactiv

I use Cetaphil, it works great!!

Also, do you drink lots of water? That really helps...

I think she said she stopped her BCP.
Proactiv is good.
Certain foods can flare up your skin as well.
There are many creams that the dermatologist can prescribe.

I dont have any recommendations but I wanted to say that the same thing just happened to my sister. She went off her BCP (shes 31) that she was on for a long time and now her skin is worse than ever. She has whiteheads in every single pore (sorry that was gross). Shes going to the derm next week.

I use Retin A Micro...it has been working really well for me. It dries me out in certain spots to the derm gave me a cortizone cream for dry spot treatment.

Going to say same thing the girls have been saying here. Make sure you drink lots of water!!!!

And I swear by Noxema, I've been washing my face with that for years and years.

Thanks Everyone! Chat Icon
I'll try to answer all your questions...

My eating habits haven't changed much, so I dont think it's that

I drink 2 liters of water everyday at work (not sure how many glasses that is)

My bowel movements seem normal Chat Icon why do you ask?

I really believe it's because i stopped taking BC. I was on it for almost 5 years and prior to going on it I had issues with my skin then it went away. I can't wait to go tomorrow.
Thanks, I was always curious about proactive, maybe I'll try that!
