Having a REALLY hard time getting him on the potty...
Ok we got the potty seat, the step stool, and tuns of toys and stickers as a reward if he will just go on the toilet.
He REFUSES to get on. We stuck him on once to show him there is nothing to be afraid of and he screamed until we took him off.
Should I keep on top of him or let it go for a little bit???? Should I give up on using the regular toilet and switch to a potty chair?? ( I was really against that and rather not if I don't have to...)

I would stop putting him on. Maybe he's not ready. I would just keep him at a distance and let him show you he's ready. he will eventually want to explore it and get on himself.

Hes 2 1/2 and most kids his age are already potty trained. EVERYONE is getting on my back about it.. but this is exactly what I DIDN'T want.. him to be rushed or pressured.

Please dont go by everyone else!!! I waited till Emma was ready. We REALLY started about 2 1/2 but I let her lead the way. My neighbors son didnt show any interest till he was 4. He will let you know when hes ready

Re: Having a REALLY hard time getting him on the potty...
We had the same problems with our little one.. We kept it in the same spot, and kept asking, not forcing him, he had no interest... A couple of months later, he pointed to it, and I took off his diaper and told him to sit on it.. he did, and nothing happened. But at least he sat.. a friend of mine recommended "Once upon a Potty" for boys, and "It's potty time" I bought the VHS's off of ebay and the book, and my son loved the book, and has peed and farted (lol) on the potty several times-- He is 2 1/2 and still not fully trained.. but its been a hard journey to this point... The books and tapes have really made a difference...
Good Luck!

I have a trick if you are having problems with peeing on the toilet put some cheerios in the toliet and tell him he has to stink them. He will want to go to the toilet all the time
Hope this works

Re: Having a REALLY hard time getting him on the potty...
My son was the same way! He started to show readiness around 3 - 3 1/2 yrs old - the worst thing you can do is force them and bully them into going on the potty. My aunt did that with her son and he has a lot of bathroom issues!! and still has to wear a pull up at night because he has frequent accidents, he's almost 6. When they are ready they are ready.... We had been at the beach one night and I forgot to put a pull up on Jordan when he went to bed.... he woke up came into our room to go to the bathroom and peed, my DH and I were like the *** just happened and then he went to his room put on underpants and has been potty trained since then! I cannot explain it! I used to just put him on the potty every once in a while when I was in the bathroom getting ready in the morning and let him sit until he wanted to get off.
