Does anyone know if there is an Access-A-Ride type service in Suffolk?

They have it it NYC and Queens for seniors and I am trying find out more info for my grandparents in Suffolk.

I don't know for sure but I would think so. Try calling the Suffolk County Transit Authority.

ETA: I'd love to know it you find the answer because I know someone who just moved who would be able to use the service.

I saw something like this operated by Catholic Charities in Nassau Cty today. Maybe contact Suffolk Catholic Charities.

yes, call SCAT, they provide transportation for $6 per round trip, you have to be elderly or disabled, you have to book your pick up and drop off 2 weeks ahead of time, but they give door to door service.

My grandmother lives in Yaphank and I know in Brookhaven they have a Jitney for the seniors. When no one is around to take my grandmother to the doctor she calls the Jitney and they will take her there and back. I know that you have to sign up for it. I am not sure that other townships offer it.

There is one in Nassau, my granmother used it.

Check with the county and with the town.
