kinda silly question
I know I need a coming home outfit for the baby. Do I need to pack clothes for him while he's in the hospital?

Re: kinda silly question
check with the hospital you are going to give birth in.
My hospital in CT supplies t shirts and diapers and blankets while the baby is in the hospital. They recommended to only bring the baby's going home outfit just because if the baby is in the nursery and something gets dirty, they can't guarentee it's return.
I only plan on bringing her going home outfit to the hospital with me and letting her sleep in the t shirts and blankets the hospital supplies.

They do. The only outfit you need is the going home outfit.
For newborns with an extended hospital stay, we had our own little knitted hats to give my son more personality for the nurses.

Re: kinda silly question
All I brought was a going home outfit. While he was there, he wore a diaper and one of the hospital undershirts. And he was swaddled the whole time.

That is what I thought too. I gave birth in Ireland and I had to bring everything myself, even diapers. They provided nothing. So glad that the next time I have a baby the only thing I will need is the coming home outfit.

At winthrop they provided long sleeve t-shirts a diaper and a hat. Oh and plenty of blankets to keep your little one warm.

Re: kinda silly question
I know they keep the babies in the undershirts and receiving blankets, but I want to bring a little sleeping gown for the baby to wear when they take the newborn pictures in the hospital, and also for the baby to be dressed when in my room for visitors. It's a big problem I have -- overpacking.

Re: kinda silly question
Most hospitals will take first photos of the baby, you may want to have some cute jammies for that.
