Newborn with fluid in lungs
My friend just had her first baby this morning. It turned out that the baby girl had fluid in her lungs. When she was born she wouldnt stop crying so the nurse took her out of my friends arms and brought her to ICU. It was there that htey discovered that she has fluid in her lungs. My friend has not seen her new born since this morning. She didnt even get a good look at her. It looks like ths baby is going to stay in the hospital while my friend goes home on Tuesday. Has anyone had this happen to them?? Is everything going to be ok? My poor friend is so upset this isnt the way she thought her first birth would be

I don't have an answer for you but wanted to give you and your friend . I left the hospital without my baby also (jaundice) . It is very upsetting.

I also left without my baby but everything was fine in the end, so no complaints. It is somewhat heartbreaking.
Does the baby have Transient Tachypnea? It seems pretty common & no lasting effect.

Unfortnately TTN is common, but the good news it is usually temporary and has no long term effects. I noticed more babies born via C-Section are affected by TTN, because the pressure gradient need to remove the fluid isn't there during a C-section.
