Potty training
Denver was so quick to catch on that we got spoiled but we are having difficulty with Holden, who is now 6 months old. He is being neutered on Tues so maybe that will help but he continues to poop under the dining room table. We have tried so many different things but at least once a day, he poops there. Any suggestions?

Re: Potty training
did you try (and i know it is gross) when he poops under the table, picking it up, walk him outside with it, put it down and let him smell it there
try to make the connection with pooping and going out....
Is this primarily when you are not home?

That is a good idea, I will try that.
It is usually after his morning walk, he comes in and poops.

ahhhhhh then i would def try the above or if you know he poops at that time...
Keep him out until he does and then give him good treats and praise...
a few times of doing that and i bet he will catch on...

He is so devilish because whether we are out for 10 min or an hour, he won't go until he comes in. Yet, later in the day, he goes outside. Is that crazy or what?
But how could you ever get mad at this face? Image Attachment(s):

Re: Potty training
lol...well, with our dog he always pooped outside but for a while peed inside - so my dh (who would kill me for writing this!) acutally went out with him the one day and peed with him.....(thank goodness i am a girl! ) and it worked.....not syaing you should have someone go out and poop with him but maybe like someone else suggested take his poop out to a spot you wnat him to poop in and leave a few of them there...it will begin to smell more familiar...kinda like under the table smells to your dog right now I guess!
good luck!

Re: Potty training
ours is almost 7 mos old and JUST learned he has to go outside. but he did the same thing, would always poop underneath our kitchen table.
they sell cleaners that are supposed to deter them from always returning to the same spot inside.
or when you catch him doing it (only when you catch him, otherwise he doesn't know what he did) take him and 'it' right outside so he associates outside and going.
we used treats. everytime we walked him outside and he did both, we gave him a cookie right on the spot andhe finally got it. now, when he comes in from his walk he goes right for his cookie jar. food always seems to work!
