Moms of big boys
How old where they when they started to wear 2T? I have lots clothes to return and thinking he will need it by late spring-summer - does that sound right? He is about 25lbs now and on the taller side. He is mostly wearing 18 mos and starting on 18-24 mo now (esp in shirts).
I know I just bought the 2T carter fleece sleepers and they are a little big but the 18 months I am squishing him into.

Re: Moms of big boys
At his 18 month visit, Andrew was 28.5 lbs and 34+". I know he's over 30 lbs now, we weigh him on our scale.
Andrew takes after his mommy, he has short legs!! So he can still get by in 18-24 month pants, but he's in a 2T or even 3T shirt,as well as PJ's, since he was 18 months old. when he does wear 2T pants, we have to roll them up. But we mostly buy the 3T because of the waist. He needs the room.

Re: Moms of big boys
Gabriella isn't a boy, but big, none-the-less.
She was in 2T pants by 18 months and 2T shirts by 15 months. Her shirt size is usually a size ahead of her pants. This varies a lot depending on brand.
Are you buying summer clothes now? I always wait (unless I buy a head from the previous year) until May because it's usually not warm enough here and by then everything is clearanced. Also, gives me plenty of time to be sure because one day something fits, the next it doesn't.

That sounds about right, Denise. Sean was almost 27 pounds and 33" when he turned one and he was in 2T by 18 months.
He's now in 4T tops and 3T bottoms (although they're becoming too short) @ 35 pounds and almost 40 inches!

Re: Moms of big boys
Thanks girls.
I figure 2T shirts should be fine for the summer but wonder about the bottoms. It will be the summer - so it will be shorts so it may not be that bad if they are a little long. He also has short legs - unlike his mommy. 12-18 mos pants are best for length but they are getting tight on his little belly.
I try not to buy clothes too early since I never know sizes but I had some gifts from his birthday that I wanted to exchange and get the same thing just the right size and whenever I wait on somthing they are always out of his size by the time I can go shopping again. I went with 2T and will keep all my receipts just in case.

Denise - I'm late on this, but I don't think you can go wrong with 2T (what the heck was I thinking in the store when shopping for Kevin ) Anyway, you know Michael's situation with clothes, lol - he's weird. But my neice is 16 months and at 12 months she was wearing 24 months and now starting to wear 2T... I think you'll be okay on that size for the summer!

hehe - I got the t-shirt and bathing suit in 2T. I had another 2 outfits from gymboree in 12-18 mos for the summer - so I also exhanged for 2T. So hope we are right because I like them all. I am pretty sure about teh shirt nervous about the bottom but I figure in 5 months (July) he still can't be wearing the same size, right?

I can't believe 2T! Anyway, 5 months is a long time and these kids grow so quickly! I think (and hope) it will be okay! I'm glad you got everything exchanged!

Re: Moms of big boys
The only problem I see with you getting 2T is pants. If its mostly shirts and shorts, I think you are fine. Esp with boys, they even look cute in their stuff a bit big. But alot of 2T pants are longer than 24m b/c they are made for the toddler body where their legs are getting longer and they lose some of that baby body. Some kids clothes are just plain strange. I have 2 pairs of pants for Tara - one is a 18m and the other a 2T. The 18m is 2 inches longer than the 2T of the other brand.
