Counting Fetal Movements

I just read this in my weekly newsletter (I'm 27 weeks) from Babyzone.com, anyone ever hear of this or do this?

Remember to count your fetal movements. Every fetus has its most active times (and often it’s late at night when you are trying to catch a few zzzzs!). During his active periods, your baby should move ten times an hour. Choose an hour, and mark each movement on a piece of paper. If your baby hasn’t moved ten times, drink some juice and count again for another hour. You should call your doctor if the baby hasn't moved at least ten times during any two-hour stretch.

Re: Counting Fetal Movements

Yes we give out a form to women who come to our L&D for decreased fetal movement all the time. Although I think everyone should do it starting at 27 weeks for piece of mind. You just have to time how long it takes the baby to move 10 times during their usual active time. If it takes more than 2 hours definitely call the doctor for an NST.

Re: Counting Fetal Movements

It's funny because yesterday, during her active time, she kicked me about 6-7 times within a minute or 2. I guess I'm OK with fetal movements!

Re: Counting Fetal Movements

I've heard of this, but my baby has been so active from the very beginning that the doctors never suggested I count the movements.

This baby is rocking and rolling in there - all the time!
