HOw old was your baby when he/she first went to daycare?

I HAVE to start working on Nov. 1. We are a 2 income family and I was pulled out of work 4 weeks prior to my due date...so I'll have been out a total of 13 weeks when I go back. AND I got a job on LI!!! YAY!! BUT...I'm nervous because Baby Sal will only be 9 1/2 weeks old when I go back. Also I have to start a new job which I actually have to think at and concentrate!! I'm very nervous for all this! He is sleeping long stretches, but not fully through the night.

How does everyone do it???

I went back to work when Jake was going on 14 weeks. He was already sleeping through the night but we had decided that if he wasn't sleeping through the night on his own by the time I went back to work, we would start him on cereal at night. I just don't think there is anyway we could have survived going back to work on no sleep without killing each other.

As it is, last night he had a very restless sleep waking up almost every 2 hrs (not to eat, just fussing enough wake me) so I am SHOT this morning.

I have to get up an hour and change earlier than I used to in order to feed him, change him and get him ready for DH to take him to the sitter. Then I have a 45 min commute ahead of me. It's not easy and it's only my 2nd week full week back at work so we are still adjusting.

I wish you luck because starting a new job with a new baby that you are leaving for the first time must be really hard!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Unfortunately we both have to work also, and unfortunately my son had to go to daycare when he was only 6 weeks old! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be because I worked REALLY close to where he was and everyday during lunch I would go nurse him his lunch feeding. So I got to see him during the day for a little while. That really helped me. Good luck!

Well...I do the books in a daycare/preschool and there are babies as young as 6 weeks there...

I cant imagine how hard that must be, but at least at that age they dont really know whats going on...as they get older and cry begging for you not to leave, got to be even worse...

He'll be fine try not to worryChat Icon
