Does anyone have difficulty talking to their boss? UPDATE: I did it!!!
My boss put me in such a position that I couldn't say no to because he's the "king of persuasion" now I'm stuck... I don't know how to tell him it's not something I want to do. How would you go about it.
UPDATE: Ok so I didn't exactly begin the conversation, he did. He asked if I thought about what we spoke about yesterday and I just said, "I did and I appreciate your offer but at this time I am unable to do it." He was understanding especially when I said, "no hard feelings right?" He goes, "Oh no, not at all"
Whew! I feel much better... thanks for the advice and help

I tell the truth at all costs but my boss and I have a very good relationship. Maybe chicken out a bit and send it in an email if you are too nervous.

My boss and I have a great relationship and I talk to her about anything. In your case, I would either e-mail him or her and advise that you are not comfortable w/ the task at hand. be honest.

Re: Does anyone have difficulty talking to their boss?
My boss is so strange... he'll make you think you're making such a great decision until you realize it's not. I can't e-mail him. I know I have to speak to him... I just don't know how to begin the conversation....

Re: Does anyone have difficulty talking to their boss?
He wants me to teach (I'm a ESL teacher) to his nurses during the days I have off (from teaching at night) and at the time he told me I should quit where I'm working to begin working for him because he's raising my "teaching salary" $7.00/hr. I just stood there looking so confused I didn't know what to say. I told him I would think about it and says, "What's there to think about?" and I basically walked out of his office.
Now I want to tell him that I don't want to work on my days off and I don't think it's such a good idea. I just don't know how to word it. UGH!

Re: Does anyone have difficulty talking to their boss?
DH and I often use the "have to discuss it with the spouse" line if we feel put on the spot to do something, because usually that can put it off for at least a day.
Why not tell him that you enjoy the other job, it is a nice break for you and you don't really want to give it up. and if you don't give it up, you don't really have the time to commit to anymore work hours.

Re: Does anyone have difficulty talking to their boss?
Well a small update, I didn't get a chance to talk to him yet I'm just going to have to go in there and tell him the truth (and I so don't feel like doing that right now). Wish me luck!
