emergency daycare
A question for all you working mommies - what do you do if your nanny calls in sick or if your baby is sick and you can't bring them to daycare? My DH and I are having are very hard time figuring out a back-up. We both work in the city in sales so we need to be there but our nanny has already called in sick twice this year and its very difficult...TIA for any advice.

Re: emergency daycare
You know, we really don't have an emergency back up. We're lucky to have a sitter we can afford in the first place. It's kind of a scary thought. Our emergency backup is our sick time and vacation time at work. DH has a alot of sick time accumulated so he's usually the one to stay home. I had to use most of my time for maternity leave.

Re: emergency daycare
Unfortunately I don't think my solution is going to help. My mom or sister will watch them if they're sick - otherwise I can work from home if necessary.

Re: emergency daycare
We have a sitter, and there have been occasions where she is sick (or her son is sick), or my DD is too sick to go over her house. In that case either I take a day off of work (or work from home) or DH takes a day off.

Re: emergency daycare
Luckily my Mom & Dad or Sister have been available if my sitter has been unavailable. If Jack is sick DH or I have used our sick/vac time.

That's basically what we do too. Sometimes I will switch my work from home days.
