Ladies who've had babies, I'm needing your help!
What was the best present someone brought you while you were in the hospital????
A good friend of mine is 2 and 1/2 weeks from her due date, she's having a little  ....and I'm trying to think of something to bring her when she's in the hospital...something kinda special....

Well, I don't have a or  yet, but I have sent this before and it has always been a big hit!
ETA: You can customize the cookies inside and they are really pretty good. I think this one sells for about $61 and there is one with 12 cookies for ~ $85.

Everyone got things for the baby or flowers. My mom got me diamond earrings. I'm not saying you have to buy diamond earrings... , but something for the mom would be nice. With all that hospital food, some brownines or the mom's favorite food would be nice.

Maybe I'm weird but both my kids were born on a Saturday so my favorite thing was the Sunday newspaper!
Real food (if she's allowed to eat it) would be nice too. Or a Bath&Body Works type basket for her to pamper herself when she gets home, maybe?

I was definelty thinking of something for the Mom, not the baby....she loves coffee ice cream, so I'm already planning on bring a pint of that....what kind of stuff do you need in the hospital?

Best gift sent was from Cookies By Design in East Northport. A huge cookie bouqet of a Noah's Ark theme.
Best gift brought - a McD's vanilla shake. My friend walked in & said "For some reason this was the one thing I wanted after I had my son, so I thought maybe you would want one too." She was right.
eta. some posted a pajamagram which would've been a great gift.

Make sure you get a larger size than her regular size. It's depressing trying to fit into pre-pregnancy clothes.

I know the two things I would miss after not being able to have for 9 months would be sushi and booze..
how about a nice bottle of wine or a nice bottle of champange? Add chocolate truffles to that and you've got a meal!

Every evening that my girfriends visited, they brought Starbucks coffee (my fav.!) - and bagels. My mom left a huge plate of bakery cookies so that when other people came to visit me, I had something to offer them. lol!
My sister had a DS a few months after me - One of her friends had a bakery deliver canolies to her and DH.

Not sure if she's nursing that you'd want to bring champagne & chocolate (caffeine).

Honestly? Food. No, seriously, right after you have baby you're so busy tending to the little one that you barely have time to eat, sleep or clean so the best, BEST present I got was when some friends came over my house when I got home from the hospital and brought over bagels, cream cheese, lox... enough to last a week.

Jeez...I got so much stuff, baby clothes, flowers, candy...I was just so exited to have my son in my arms finally that I didn't even care about the gifts!!!
Any sort of gesture is an appreciated one to a new mommy though!

Preemie outfits!
Maybe not the best gift in the world, but according to my SIL, they were the only things that fit her 7 lb 11 oz baby. (Even the newborn outfits were huuuge on him). He's a little over 8 lbs now and the preemie outfits still fit him perfectly.
Also, maybe something that they can make a hand/foot print of the baby as a keepsake.

Okay, that's a good idea, I'll bring her some chocolates and ice cream/cookies in the hospital, and then we she gets home, I'll bring over some kind of food that will be enough for a week or so....like bagels...or what?

My mom came over made dinner & than left. That was the best gift I got when I came home (other than the baby).

My mom and MIL took turns coming over and making dinner for the first week or so... it was the BEST THING EVER!!!!
