Perm. teacher certification ?
I am in the final stages of getting my perm certification for pre K-6th. My question is, do we need to get a letter from the school that we work at that states how long we have been there? TIA

Re: Perm. teacher certification ?
Did you fill out the online application? When I have to choose a "pathway" it says that I need 2 yrs. paid experience, which I have, and filled that in on the work experience section, but the bullet is not checked which means according to them I still need it. I'm so confused, i'm going to try to call CW Post. Thanks! Congrats on getting it!

Re: Perm. teacher certification ?
I just filed for permanent cert. online two days ago. I called the State Ed. Dep't today and they said that I need a letter sent (with school letter head) indicating the number of FULL TIME employment years at my district. Once I have the letter, I will mail it to the State Ed. office in Albany. HTH

I applied online three months ago for my permanent. No where on the application did it say I needed a letter

Re: Perm. teacher certification ?
When I finished applying online, they gave me a checklist of requirements I've completed and those I haven't. 2 years + of full time employment was one of them -- In order to show "proof", they request a letter.

Re: Perm. teacher certification ?
I wish I could remember butit has been so long ago that I cant. I'm going to guess I had a letter. All I know is that I nevr have to recertify because I have been permanent since 1998.

I applied back in January, did NOT include a letter, sent my application through Nassau BOCES, and received a letter from Nassau BOCES saying that I satisfied all the requirements and should be receiving my perm cert shortly (only 7 months later). Long story short, I DID NOT need a letter.

Re: Perm. teacher certification ?
I submitted all of my work directly to the New York State Education Dep't. I'm sure you can get away with not submitting a letter, but I think you're "better off safe than sorry". If it's not too much of an inconvenience, I'd say get a letter to be on the safe side! Good Luck!

Yes, I saw that it says I have not completed it, meanwhile, I just received tenure. I guess I will ask my school office to write up a letter. Thanks everyone, I don't know why this gets so confusing, nothing is ever too easy.
