Present for New Parents?

Hello Ladies,

I am new to this site, but have been a member of LI Weddings for a while.
Hello Ladies,

I know that this might not be the right board to post this on, but it gets a lot of action.

One of my very good friends that lives in Ohio just had a baby. I would like to send a present and am not sure about what to do. I had thought about giving her a gift certificate to a take out restaurant, but do I also get the baby a seperate gift? I know that we will be going to the christening (which would obviously require a gift for the baby).

Any mothers out there have any suggestions on what you would have liked to receive those first couple of weeks after the baby was born?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not a mom yet, but I was thinking a gift certificate to a restaurant is good- if they have child care. If they don't have a friend or family member who can babysit- it may end up being expensive (assuming they don't want to take the baby)- I knwo we have this problem all the time with a couple who complains about the cost of child care since they have no family who will babysit.

I think also a nice spa treatment- manicure/pedicure gift certificate may be great for the mom.

Thanks ladies, Yes, I was thinking that it would be best to get a gift certificate for a take-out place because I know they wouldn't be able to go out to dinner for a while.

A restaurant GC is nice - also maybe a store certificate - such as toy r us or babies r us - depending what stores are available in Ohio - im sure would be very much appreciated.
