We're just using white sheers. We wanted light to be able to shine through because the room is blue and we didn't want it to look too dark. We have the matching valance of the crib set above it.

Re: what kind of blinds/shades/etc are you using in your nursery??

We have blinds behind the curtains. Our curtains are a bright blue color (I'll post a pic) -- the blinds were already up there and we figured that if we ever needed to block out the light for naps it wouldhelp. Fortunately the light doesn't really bother her so the blinds are almost always up and we just close the curtains at night out of habit.

Also THis picture only has one curtain up and we now have two on each window. I just iddn't realize when I first bought them that I'd need more.

I have plain white aluminum blinds. They are custom made from a place in the neighborhood where DH used to work.

We have blinds in that room right now. We are going to keep them and put up a valance that comes with the bedding.

We are getting a room darkening roller-shade and covering it up with two panels in gingham fabric.

We are renting so we don't want to spend too much.

We have Hunter Douglas Duette blinds, the top is sheer that lets light into the room and the bottom is opaque.

We have regular blinds in the room now and will probably leave them and add the matching valance to her bedding set.

I don't have a pic b/c my DH hasn't gotten off his butt to paint the room yet. He's waiting for a rainy dayChat Icon

We plan to do the honeycomb shades. We have a set in our room and we love them. They are good insulators against drafts, block natural light when needed, but I think they look softer than mini-blinds. We'll probably get them at Home Depot liked our set. We were happy with the service and price and they are easy to install ourselves.

As a BTDT mother may I suggest that you forget all about looks for your babys room and go for functionality. If you would like to sleep past the moment that the sun rises, I would suggest that you get not only a blackout blind, but blackout curtains. I know once we got blackout blinds, Noah slept much later in the mornings.

Pretty Schmetty, you won't care much what your windows look like in the height of summer when that baby won't go to sleep in the daylight or wakes up at 3.22 when the sun starts to come up and he/she thinks its time to play!!!

We're renting and the baby's room is also the guest room and DH's only office (he is on the road alot, so only has the office here at home) right now. We think we're moving DH's office out to the living room. In the baby's room right now are room darkening honeycomb shades. They will work perfectly.
