Any ideas for 1st Anniv getaway
DH and I will be married 1 yr in August. He cannot take vacation because he started a new job, a few months back. I want to do something. Can anyone recommend a place to stay overnight? Montauk or something like that. TIA

Re: Any ideas for 1st Anniv getaway
we went to a B&B for our 1st anniversary, it took about 1.5 hours to get there & it was GREAT! We stayed in the private cottage suite

We did a weekend trip, left Friday returned sunday to Newport RI. It was a good drive but we left early Friday. On our way home, we stopped in Mystic, CT which was also great!

Montauk is going to be pretty expensive in August. You might want to look into Cape Cod, Mystic, or Newport. It could be a nicer weekend getaway for the same or less money.

Do you like to wine taste? There's great places on the North Fork to stay and so much to do during the summer out there! Try Greenport, what a great place!

Re: Any ideas for 1st Anniv getaway
Going out east is great. The only problem is that since it's their season, most of the hotels and motels require a minimum stay of 3 or more nights. There are tons of B&B's on the North and South fork which might not require a minimum stay and it's so beautiful out there.
You could also look at places like Lancaster, PA or upstate on a lake.
