Cleaning question for the preggos

What do you use to clean your oven? The normal stuff I used to use before getting pregnant was a killer. I don't want to even go near it now.

Re: Cleaning question for the preggos

Don't, can your DH do it for you? Have him spray the stuff, have him wipe it down and air out the house while you go shopping and come home to a cleaned oven.Chat Icon

I wouldn't use oven cleaner. That stuff is not good to inhale even when you're not pregnant. My DH has been helping me out a bit with cleaning, but I doubt I could get him to clean the oven. Looks like I'm going to have a dirty oven until at least March! Chat Icon

I would make DH or your mom or some relative help you out, your pregnant! Chat Icon
I have the self cleaner oven - so there is nothing i have to do - just set it and wipe it down at the end.

But if you must, i would just make sure you have a well vendilated room - but even then i don't think i would feel safe enough to use that stuff, scrub and then wipe it down.....Chat Icon sorry

Re: Cleaning question for the preggos

Well, I set the self cleaning option and went to the gym. I told DH to be mindful of the oven, I came back and there were melted candles all over the top of the stoveChat Icon

I would have someone else do it for sure and maybe even do it when you are out of the house or very far from the kitchen. The fumes from that stuff is awful.

Re: Cleaning question for the preggos

Here's a trick to keep the bottom of the oven looking nice

Get some heavy duty extra long aluminum foil and line the bottom of the oven underneath the elements. Everytime it's gets dirty, pull out the foil and put a new one in there.
