Hmmm..interesting thing I found out today..
What do you all think?
I noticed I was feeling overly tired lately and ALWAYS contributing it to the ovidrel and meds.
I have hypothyroidism and am on synthroid. Well they contributed a part of my Infertility to the hypothyroid condition.
Im also a vegetarian...Only somewhat recently...last 7 months I guess.
They tested my thyroid a few times recntly and saw weird changes but nothing too major ( ie...no need to increase meds just yet)
Well I just read an article on soy...saying that soy interferes with thyroid medications and can cause a host of thyroid issues...
I eat a TON of soy ( many meatless alternatives)
Should I mention this to my RE? OR am I overreacting?

For me personally, I think Soy is overated.
I suffer from hypothyroidism and also have fibroids (which feeds of estrogen) so I have stayed away from Soy. I never heard about the correlation between Soy/Hypothryoid. Interesting! Keep us posted.

I think its kinda over rated myself but happens to be in the foods I like right now as Im adjusting to being meat free, but I did a google search after reading this article and BOOM a million articles on the effects of soy on thyriod...
I wonder if the soy could affect my overall estrogen levels as well??

It can't hurt to mention it to her. I've seen conflicting studies on soy so I don't know what to believe. Personally, I eat some products with soy because diary products are not good for PCOS and sinus infections and I stay away from hormone treated products like regular milk.

wow...I take synthroid and use soy often. So that mean no more soy? How does it effect us-those on the meds?

I would definitely mention it to your Dr. I have read a lot of things saying that soy may have a negative effect on fertility. If you are a vegetarian that's your main source of protein and may be part of the problem.

Re: Hmmm..interesting thing I found out today..
My sister found out that her veg diet which include a TON of soy products was destroying her body..it was hurting her blood disorders and making her endo worse. She now eats meat and is 99% off soy and is doing much better that way.

Re: Hmmm..interesting thing I found out today..
The kooky nutritionist that goes to my yoga studio claims that soy in high levels is very dangerous to females. Remember she is a kook so I don't know how valuable this information is but she goes on and on about it so I would DEFINATELY talk to your doc about it.

There is so much controversy over Soy. I wish we had the right answers. I try to limit myself if not omit all together. My weakness is Green Tea from Jamba Juice. They use Soy!

UGH! So frustrating! I never heard anything about it till recently and now I see a million things on it, and theres no way to know whats truth, whats fiction.
I failed to mention it to my PCP today But will at my next RE appointment for sure.
Im just thinking, what the heck will I eat if I eliminate soy??
