Kitchen Appliances-- Best Places to Buy & When
I know some places haul away your old appliances and some places have great deals..
Also, we'll probably look to buy new stuff in the next month or two... Is there a better time to buy- i.e. sales, etc.
TIA!

Re: Kitchen Appliances-- Best Places to Buy & When
I would wait for a Memorial Day or 4th of July sale. In all honesty you get the best deal with appliances when you buy MANY of them at the same time. Do your price research on line once you have the make and model you want. We saved over 1K alone just on lowest price match.
We bought ours from Sears the week after Christmas. That's usually when they have the best deals for the year because no one is thinkking of redoing their kitchen or has the money for appliances right after the holidays. We bought washer, dryer, micro, oven, dishwasher and fridge all in one trip. At the time they were offering a 20% rebate if you bought 3 appliances or more on a Sears card. I opened one and DH another, got the 20% off, which was almost 2K in a rebate, paid off the cards in one month and cancelled them. They were also offering zero percent financing for 12 months in lieu of 20% rebate.

Sears will take them, not sure if they charge a fee though as we didn't need them to.
My contractor ripped out my old kitchen down to the studs and the town took the appliances away when we ripped out at the ned of October. Not sure if you saw the post. So much needed to be done first and we didn't order the appliances until December 26th. we didn't and couldn't live in the house for 4 months.

Re: Kitchen Appliances-- Best Places to Buy & When
We live in Philly and we go to the Sears outlet - they have a gazillion appliances for almost 30-40% off because of a ding here or a scratch there - if the ding/scratch is on the side, it doesn't matter as long as the appliance is surrounded by the cabinets. The last time we went my mom came along and was complaining to the manager that there weren't any sears outlets in NY and he told her there was going to be a grand opening of a Sears Outlet in Babylon memorial day weekend.
To give you perspective - we bought a convection oven that was worth about $1.5k for about $700 because a little strip at the bottom was missing - we called the manufacturer and ordered the strip and now it looks brand new.

I don't know if this is close to you but my parents have always had the best experiences with Mr. Jay. They have great prices, instilation and take away the old stuff. Plus whenever we've had to do multiple items they work on a deal with us They have 2 stores - one in Roslyn & one in Williston Park
Mr Jay - Williston Park
Mr Jay - Roslyn

Where is the outlet? We live in Hoboken and we also travel to Philly a lot.. Can always use an excuse to spend the weekend in Philly
Do they deliver and install for you? Or do you need to take away yourself because it's an outlet?

Well, the one we go to is in the Northeast - at Franklin Mills Mall - but, like I said, there's also one opening memorial day weekend on Long Island, in Babylon. Yes, they will deliver and install, but I know they charge delivery according to the location, so it may cost quite a bit to deliver from Philly to Hoboken. I'm not sure if they take away the old appliance. You could always call and ask...

Re: Kitchen Appliances-- Best Places to Buy & When
Ok-- we have been to Franklin Mills I think-- we like outlets :) I'll look into it..
Thanks Corduroy-- while we do live in Hoboken, Roslyn is very close to our parents-- so that would be easy to get to-- although I am not sure they would deliver to us here.

Re: Kitchen Appliances-- Best Places to Buy & When
There is a PC Richards outlet on Commack Rd in Deer Park. I think you said you wanted stainless steel? They have tons! 1/2 their store is "scratch and dent" but a lot of the stuff may be missing a shelf(you can order one from the manufacturer) or things like that. I personally am willing to save 400 bucks for an inconvenience. We bought a brand new washer and dryer there(2 different brands and no washer hoses) and got EVERYTHING, including all hoses and connections for $500! I think you should definiytely check it out

We got ours at PC Richards, they price match, install and take away the old. Plus DW gets a discount through her job.

Re: Kitchen Appliances-- Best Places to Buy & When
I got a great deal on a Sears oven last year on their clearance site online. It was a $900 oven that I got 55% off. It came in a sealed box with no damage whatsoever.
I don't know if Sears take away - we switched from electric to gas and we gave our old one to a guy who works for my DH.
