5 injured on Animal Kingdom ride at Disney
Orlando Sentinel: 5 injured on Animal Kingdom ride at Disney Beth Kassab Sentinel Staff Writer
May 29, 2007, 2:16 PM EDT
Five Walt Disney World guests and an employee were transported to the hospital Tuesday morning after the Kali River Rapids ride at Animal Kingdom was evacuated.
One of the rides' sensors caused the flumes to stop as they were traveling up a steep incline, prompting an evacuation about 10:20 a.m., said Bo Jones, deputy fire chief of the Reedy Creek Improvement District.
A platform designed to help transfer guests from the ride to the exit stairs malfunctioned during the evacuation.
One Disney employee may have suffered a bone fracture and the five guests suffered other minor injuries such as bruises and neck and back pain, Jones said.
The injured people included three teenagers, one 21-year-old and two people in their 40s.
Disney spokeswoman Kim Prunty said the reason the ride stopped is being investigated along with how the evacuation platform malfunctioned.
Kali River Rapids remains closed for now, she said.
"Our primary concern is for those who are impacted by the incident," Prunty said. "We're trying to determine what happened." __________________

Some news station are actually starting to report that the injury's might be worse then original reported but this info is from a Disney message board I frequent so I am not sure how much of the info is true.

as a former Disney "Cast Member" I can honestly tell you that Disney will do everything and anything to cover up any bad publicty within the parks. Ther refer to it as perserving the show.
I know that Disney has some sort of agreement that no person shall be declared dead on propery...the declaration happens in route to Sand Lake Hospital...of course that doesn't mean that people haven't died on proprty before.
Something as minor a vomit...it referred to as a "Protien Spill" and ambulence is an "Alpha Unit" and Snake is a "Guest Without a Ticket" Children are never lost...only parents get lost.

Wow...that's kind of crazy! I can't believe they go to such extremes to make everything sound a lot better than it actually is.

Well some people that are in the parks were stating that the rapids were filled with blood and that a father and his daughter were badly injured, but according to the disney spokesperson it was only minor injuries. (As I said this is all info from the DIS boards, and I am not sure if it is accurate but most of the time they are on point the info usually comes from people inside the park or cast members who post on the boards)
