5 minute chocolate cake???

got this in an email - anyone ever hear of this?

The Most Dangerous Chocolate Cake Recipe in the World

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

1 Coffee Mug
4 tablespoons flour(that's plain flour, not self-rising)
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) some nuts (optional)
Small splash of vanilla

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well . Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes on high.

The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to share!)

Re: 5 minute chocolate cake???

Sounds like something I would try right before I tossed my microwave and bought a new one.

Sounds easy though. Now I'm curious if it's true.

ETA OK, I googled it, and it looks awesome.

Re: 5 minute chocolate cake???

My mom was totally intrigued so she made it the other day. She made it in a much larger cup so that it didn't spill over and she said it was REALLY good. Her and my dad devoured it while she was on the phone with me.

Re: 5 minute chocolate cake???

I think you just gave me an idea for co-worker Christmas gifts!

If this is good (I'll try it today) - I'm going to put the dry ingredients in a little baggie, buy some nice, microwaveable mugs and print the recipe out for each person (I'll try to do it fancy and on nice paper). They I will put the bag of dry ingredients in the mug, with the recipe and wrap it all up in cellophane!

THANK YOU!Chat Icon

Re: 5 minute chocolate cake???

I got this by email and did it a few weeks ago. The chocolate chips fell to the bottom and I found the cake a little dry. Not bad for the 5 minutes of effort though.

If I do it again, I will skip the chips and serve it with ice cream.

I agree about the chocolate chips! That made washing the mug a BIT of a PITA. And Ice cream did make it better. But it also makes it more dangerous. Chat Icon
