5 month CRASH
I have been living a healthy lifestyle now for 5 months. I workout almost everyday and eat healthy. Well, I had a procedure done at the hospital and it was stressful leading up to it and then afterwards they told me for 5 days afterwards to lie in bed, don't exercise, don't lift, don't cook, don't do anything it seemed like!! So I lost my exercise routine and DH has either cooked something unhealthy, or we keep going out to eat which I got excited over because we never go out anymore but the portion sizes and types of food killed me. I am going on two, two-week vacations this month as well. So basically, what I am trying to say is, the couple of weeks before my vacation I was off my routine and will continue to be. I looked in the mirror and I just looked and felt so much heavier. I said how did all that tone go away so quick? I weighed myself and I have already gained FIVE POUNDS!! I won't be able to get back on my real routine until the middle of Sept!!! I am already as heavy as I was back in April or May... I am just so upset and disappointed and now I am not even looking forward to my vacations because I don't look as good as I did and I worry about what I will be looking like when I get back. I was so looking forward to showing off my 12 pound loss and my new toned body and now I gained 5 of it back and I don't see anything looking toned right now!

Re: 5 month CRASH
First of all- congratulations on maintaing a healthy lifestyle for 5 months! That's huge accomplishment.
I understand with your medical procedure you were thrown off your usual plan. That happens. However, reading your post it seems like you are already preparing to fail while you are on vacation. Try to go in with positive thinking. You should never deny yourself while on vacation (that's just no fun!) but there's no reason to OVERindulge either. For both vacations, set a plan. Maybe you can eat healthier for breakfast and lunch and cheat for dinner? Or is it a place where you can bring your own snacks? You can try and eat smaller portions during your meals and have snacks to hold you over in between meals. Also, is it possible to get excercise in while on vacation?
I know its very discouraging when you worked so hard only to gain weight back so quickly. Try and keep a positive attitude and prepare yourself for the next couple of weeks.
Also, I bet those 5lbs are at least half water weight. After you eat alot more than normal your body sometimes will bloat with the extra water weight. However, that weight (I've found) is usually easy to lose).
Stay positive!!

Re: 5 month CRASH
OK take a deep breath! You can do this. The 5 lbs are not all fat gains! Probably 90% (AT LEAST!) is water weight, hormonal, intestinal etc. Don't stress...you can't possibly have gained 5 lbs of fat in that short a period of time!
As for the vacation issue, I can relate. We are leaving tomorrow for a vacation with my in laws and I am in panic mode...especially becasue things have been going decently with my body/nutrition/fitness goals. Here's what I did. I packed a few of my go to foods. I packed my low carb breads so that for breakfast or lunch I can make myself something healthy. DH and I agreed that we will have one cheat night out and the rest we will try to make good choices even if we go out for dinner.
Colleen has a great point about going in with a positive attitude rather than convincing yourself that you will fail. My nutritionist said this to me in preparation for this trip. She said don;t make this a mountain. Roll with it. Your meals may look "Different from normal" but that doesn't mean they are "wrong" or "bad." Your timing may be off but you can make it work. No matter where you go even if its out to eat, you can awlays find SOMETHING suitable to fit your needs. She said think about people who are diabetic or preggo...they have different needs and so do people who are health conscious. It really made a lot of sense to me and I am going to try to follow this advice for the next 4 days! Hope that helps!
Also- are you allowed to exercise? If so, there are tons of things you can do even in your room rather than going to a gym!

I agree with Lauren and Colleen...I would try to get back into your routine before you leave and try to incorporate some type of exercise into your vacation. Try not to get down on yourself! Go have fun!!

Re: 5 month CRASH
thanks girls. I guess the weight just made me scared to go on vacation feeling the way I do and made me question whether the same thing would happen when I am away. At one of the vacations, we have a really nice gym and we have been planning to go there in the mornings. I am not allowed to do light exercising so I will def. start incorporating what I can back into my routines. I just needed to reevaluate everything! thanks again.
