5 wks and SCARED of being PG
i'm only about 5 weeks preggno and going to the dr. for the first time but i'm already really scared of what's ahead for the next 8 months.
i feel nausea most of the time, tired, and my back is so tense. i always sleep on my back but yesterday, it finally hit me when i have to sleep on my sides (my uterus was tight when i'm on my back). it was so uncomfortable! i have a bad back and i'm so afraid as the baby gets bigger. And then there are the stretch marks, swollen feet, labor pain, etc, etc.
i always want to be a mom but i guess all this didn't hit me until i actually go preggo. anyone else felt like that before?

dont worry, all your fears and anxiety is normal. Especially when you are so early on. You'll adjust to it and hopefullyl enjoy your pregnancy soon. hang in there....hormones certainly dont help at this stage either.

Re: 5 wks and SCARED of being PG
Aw, it will get better. There were times in the very beginning when I was like OMG, my whole body is going to change, how am I going to deal?? But you come to accept all those thoughts and now at 20 weeks I feel like I'm not even preggo anymore, tiredness is gone, etc...aside from my growing belly. I'm so excited now and I think you will be too. Especially since you said you always wanted to be a mom....it will click in positively, eventually!
I had moments of tightness also in the beginning & cramping which made sleeping very uncomfortable but even that has gotten better. You don't have to sleep on your side just yet all the time. You can't expect the worst (strech marks, swelling)...think positive and think about how many people say that having their baby is the best thing that ever happened to them.
I'd imagine its rough towards the end, but look at the little miracle you are creating! If it wasn't meant to be, it wouldn't be!!

The first tri, especially the first few weeks, are the hardest b/c your body is adjusting to nurturing your baby. Also the hormones are haywire, and the reality that you will have a baby is very overwhelming. It is a lot to take in right now, and compound that with wanting to do everything "right" and it will take some getting used to.
Hang in there, it does get better

I agree with everything posted so far. Also keep in mind that everyone experiences pg differently. Once the naseau goes away, you might feel better than you've ever felt & alot of people don't even get stretch marks. I never got sick & I still feel great at 22 weeks.

I was terrified at 1st - but it got better - I had some good days and bad days - but the BEST day ever was when I held my baby in my arms... keep your eye on the prize!

Re: 5 wks and SCARED of being PG
I haven't slept on my back in 7 weeks...mostly because of the nausea. But now at 12.5 I am FINALLY starting to feel better.
I lost my excitement when the MS hit. But now I am excited again because I feel like myself.
I was scared, not so much about the physical aspects of being pregnant...but about how much life is going to change. I felt like MS was the first of so many sacrifices I would be making for this baby. But I think most women go thru this. This is a life changing event, and even though I wanted it SO BAD I felt apprehensive for a little while. But that has passed. The hormones make you crazy and very emotional about stuff.
You will feel better soon.

Re: 5 wks and SCARED of being PG
I think its totally normal. When I got that BFP I actually cried. My poor DH didnt know what was happening, but it was just all the overwhelming feelings of what was about to happen. From the physical things, to the responsibility to the effect it would all have on my marriage, it was scary. I am now 8 weeks and I still have those feelings like what did I get myself into, especially when I am running to the bathroom to get sick! But I figure we have the next 8 months to adjust and to plan and deal with the changes before the baby comes. And once that baby is here, we wont even remember the anxiety we are currently feeling.

Re: 5 wks and SCARED of being PG
I had read all the pregnancy books (what to expect, girlfriends guide, belly laughs) & to be honest they scared the hell out of me...well flashforward 32 weeks & here I am, big belly & all & I've had a wonderful pregnancy, of course in the beginning I was exhausted & had some nauseau, & now its getting a bit harder to bend & such, but overall, its been such a rewarding experience. Don't stress, think of the miracle growing inside you!

I lost my excitement when the MS hit. But now I am excited again because I feel like myself.
This was me - I remember hysterically crying over the toilet bowl telling DH I hate being pregnant, and how I wanted so much to enjoy it... if anyone remembers all my belly pics - you will know how much I was loving my pregnancy after the MS went away!
