Giuliana Grace 6/17/10

On 6/16 3 days after my due date my dr. decided to induce me as I they estimated the baby at almost 9 lbs and i had been 3-4 cm diallated for a few weeks but not progressing also I made it clear I did not want a c-section unless it was necessary. I was a little disappointed that this meant my birth plan of laboring at home and not having any drugs was not really an option but I would not change a thing.

I arrived at the hospital at 7:30 am on 6/17 and they started the pitocin at 8:30am and broke my water shortly after. I was a little upset my i found out the Dr. from the practice that I wanted to deliver me was only on call until noon and after that another dr. would have to deliver me but the other dr. was amazing! We were taking bets on how long my labor would be and i was only a minute off from my accutal delivery time!

By 10am my contractions were over a minute long and less then 3 minutes apart. I kept declining an epidural, but finally around 1pm finding out that i was almost 8cm dialated and may be my last chance to get it I caved in! This was accutally the worst part of my labor as I have a blood vessel running through my spine and they had to try 4 different times/spots before it was in correctly.

At 2:15 the Dr. came in to check me again and told me I was going to start pushing soon. The ystopped the epidural and I began pushing at 2:49 and my little princess was born at 3:44.

I ended up tearing but over all labor was not as bad as I was mentally prepared for.
