Re: has anyone had a cerclage at 24 1/2 weeks
I had mine done at good sam with Dr. Pilliteri We got there early in the am (5:30) i think the surgery was scheduled for 7:30. anyway for the actual procedure they gave me a spinal which wasn't bad at all...just a little pinch and some burning in my back. I was awake for the procedure but the anest gave me some meds to take the "edge" off my nerves. My dr explained everything he did as he went. I was numb but could feel stuff going on down there...more like pulling and tugging. The procedure took about 20 mins or so. I was in recovery for about 30 mins maybe then they moved me to a room on the labor and delivery floor to be monitored.
After the procedure I had a catheder (i can't spell) and was having contractions and some pain (totally normal). I think the position of the catheder was actually giving me most of the pain..because when the nurse repositioned it I felt much better. My dr had me stay until the pain was down, there was no more contractions and I could get up to pee on my own. I think I left around 7pm but was probably ready around 5:30 but had to wait for the dr.
Good Luck! Its really not so bad I was very anxious before but it was fine! They did a sono before and after the procedure to show me the babies were fine
FM me if you have questions

He decided to do i because my cervix stated out at a 44. Last week it went to a 36 and this week, it's at 19. So if i don't do it i will go into labor super early. Is he monitoring you every week? Im sure he'll decide to do it before your cervix gets dangerously short. h's a great Dr.
Thank you!
