Is that TOO bright- TOO dark???? **UPDATED WITH NEW COLORS**

I am doing my paint testing for the baby room. It was originally the "playroom" but plans have changed. Now it's reassigned as a baby room.

We are doing a jungle theme with palms trees, monkeys, etc...

Just want to make sure this is not too bright before I finish painting the whole room. This will be the "base" paint with a mural on top which will be done on Friday. The color is pretty close to the IRL color. It's a Glidden Granny Smith Apple color sample but I had it color matched to another brand.

Should I do all the walls that color?

Should I break with white walls? The brown posts will remain dark. I would like the Palm trees to start from those posts.

All the trim will be white. Baby furniture is white.

Here are some of the items for the room.

ETA: the green color will go from the bottom part of the wall, go on the slopped ceiling all the way to the top.

Looks darker than it really is though.

UPDATE:

I got 2 new color samples. A bit lighter.

Top and ceiling is original Granny Smith Apple. Looks dark.
Just under it on right is the lightest one (Key Lime). Then on left (side by side) is 1 shade lighter than original paint (Spring Leaf)

From left to right: Lightest to darkest.

I was thinking to keep one of the darkest color for the mural on that wall/slopped ceiling and used one of the 2 lightest shade for the other walls to tone it down. Makes sense?

personally I think thats really bright for a babys room, but I love the color. If I were to do it I would go with something less bright, but that's just me

Re: Is that TOO bright- TOO dark????

I think it's fine. Seems darker than pure white, and a lot of baby rooms are pure white. Especially after you put a mural up, furniture, and other artwork.

That's not white. That's granny smith apple. I was thinking that maybe I should do the other walls white to tone it down.

That green is going to be on both the flat wall and slopped ceiling.

No, I was saying that white is a "bright" color, and the color you are looking at isn't as bright as a pure white, so I wouldn't worry about the "brightness" of the granny smith apple color.

Re: Is that TOO bright- TOO dark????

I think it's a little too bright. We once painted a room that color in my parents' home. While it looked okay when we did a test area, once we painted the entire room, it was WAY, WAY too bright. I think once the whole room is that color, it will be overwhelming. I'd look for the next lighter color on the color chart for that shade of yellow to tone it down a bit.

Re: Is that TOO bright- TOO dark????

I got a couple more samples last night and painted a bit more.

We are going to tone it down a bit. I am going to paint the next shade down for that wall for the mural and another shade down for the other walls.

Thanks!!!!

I like the middle one - If all of the trim and furniture is going to be white, AND you're putting a mural over that base, I think it's a good base color - bright and cheery and perfect for a 'jungle' theme

Would you keep the same color throughout the entire room? or get a lighter color on the other walls?

Ditto to Marisa - I'd do them all the same color. I thought I read somewhere that babies love bright colors.

I'd go with the lightest one on the left. Hard to tell on the computer, but it looks a lot like the color in my DD's nursery which is BM Sweet Pear (a yellow with green undertones). We wanted something fun but not too bold... here's a pic:

Oh and what does the whole room look like? What if you painted that paneling white?

Just regular walls with a closet door. and a window on the wall facing the door.

I have a brick chimney going through the room.

I did not think about painting the paneling white. I was thinking I was going to do a mural on the whole wall (paneling and slopped ceiling). But that's not a bad idea. I would still leave the brown post. I like them as trunk for palm trees going up the slopped ceiling.

I like spring leaf, but if you are using two colors, I'd use the lightest & darkest, because the middle one is too close to either.
