Cribs with solid sides?
I am interested in this crib from JCpennys but I wondering what to do since the headboard of the crib is solid. I don't plan to use bumpers because of the Sids risk but won't the baby hurt herself if she bumps into solid wood?

It will be a long time before your child starts moving around the crib on their own, for the first few months they stay in the same spot. It's no more dangerous that them hitting their heads on the slats. Either way, bumpers are still a huge SIDS risk and I wouldn't use them. Kids hit their heads all the time, I wouldn't worry about it.

You're totally fine. Our ceib is real bulky and we can't put on a bumper. Never used one and he's fine.

Re: Cribs with solid sides?
I don't see that they would hurt themselves any more on the solid wood than on the slats, kwim?
DS never really hit the sides, but when I had the crib at highest level and he was turning over on stomach, he'd get on all floors and bang his head into the top rail. Bruised and we took him to ped, he said its fine, he'll never hurt himself much this way with his own force.
