how long can i go without nursing/pumping?
I wasn't expecting this but ds was sent to er after a visit to after hour ped. It might be appendicitis, but ds is throwing up the drink heneeds for the ct scan. I think it will be 12hours before im home. What do I do? (I havea 6 week old@ home.)

I hope your DS feels better soon.  any chance your Dh could drive to hospital, bring your pump and you go down and get it from him? The hospital might not allow this but what about possibly renting one for the day just to.express the milk out so your not engorged?
Eta: I have gone 7 hours without pumping/bf. It was painful and I was leaking a lot.

Ask the hospital to use one of their pumps. When my son was in the hospital at 6 weeks old due to bloody stool, they didn't want him consuming anything except Pedialyte until they figured out the problem. So they brought me a pump and made sure I could pump every 3 hours to keep up my supply.

one day of poor pumping will not kill your supply- it will just be uncomfortable... try and get a pump if you can just for comfort sakes or you can always manually express

I don't pump at night at all.. and then I pump in the morning around 7am.. and sometimes don't pump until like 2pm after that (while at work).. so I think you should be fine.

At six weeks, i wasnt able to go more than 6-7 hours without getting engorged. Try to see if you can borrow one from the hospital. I had to be hospitalized when DS was 3 weeks and at the ER, I asked for a pump and they let me borrow it until I was able to get my brother to bring mine. I was on meds so i had to pump and dump, but they may even be nice enough to refrigerate the milk for you. The nurse offered for me, but remembered I was on all sorts of meds.

Thanks everyone ...the nurses got me a pump and put the milk on ice.
Unfortunately, we got a diagnosis we never expected...cancer. I will be doing a lot of pumping in the hospital.
