7 nights of crying (Ferber) and not subsiding!
My son stopped crying after two nights....my daughter, 7 and counting. I am so stressed. I have moved her bedtime up gradually cause she just seems so tired. She used to sleep to 8:30am and now she only sleeps till 7:30. This s*cks. At least she is sleeping all night now. I hate listening to her SCREAM! any advice?

Re: 7 nights of crying (Ferber) and not subsiding!
Honestly, I don't think Ferber works for every baby and is right for everybaby
So i think i'm reading this right, you want her to sleep to 8:30 in the morning instead of 7:30am? But she sleeps through the night? I totally think that's okay
I used methods from the secrets of the baby whisperer and the no cry sleep solution. If you do a google search there's a whole message board about secrets of the baby whisperer, you don't even have to buy the book.
Ferber doesn't work on my two little ones, and we can't stand to hear them cry for more than 5 mins. Both my girls sleep from 7:30 pm to 7am from the time they were 8 weeks old.
Good luck I hope you find something that works for your family

Re: 7 nights of crying (Ferber) and not subsiding!
Thanks. Honestly, her sleeping to 7:30 in the morning is not the problem, but I do not want her to wake any earlier, so I can not put her down any earlier in my mind. (Which accoring to Ferber and some others would prevent the crying. The problem was that she was up all night until I started Ferber.
Thanks for the info on secrets of a baby's whisper. I will look into it.

Re: 7 nights of crying (Ferber) and not subsiding!
What does your DD do? Does she wail and wail?
I haven't read Ferber's book (so I don't know how long it's "supposed to" take), but I know my DD stopped (pretty much ) by night 2 like your son. I'm not sure I could have continued past that if she wasn't letting up.
Have you tried standing by the crib as your DD falls asleep? Also, what is your purpose in doing CIO? That might help us find a "solution."
Edit: I didn't see your reply above when I started mine. I think you may need to read your DD's tired cues and make sure you're putting her to bed when SHE'S ready. I realize you don't want her waking before 7:30, but her body just may require an earlier bedtime (and an earlier wake up). I don't think this method will work very well with an overtired baby.

See the thing is until two weeks ago I could not get her to sleep before ten, so when we started Ferber I decided to start at 8:30 and she finally fell asleep around 9:30. She would sleep till 9 am. So I started moving her bedtime earlier thinking she was overtired at When I was able to get her to bed by 8 she was sleeping until 8:30 and even 9 am. Now I am trying to move her even earlier to avoid overtiredness, but she is nolonger sleeping the 12.5 hrs she was before. Oh yea, and then there was the time change, which messed us up quite a bit because she was sleeping great, (after she finally fell off) but I had to get to work and wake her. I guess I shouldn't have started this when the clocks were changing. Well, maybe I do need to put her to bed earlier, but I really don't think that is the problem. MAybe I have gone too early?
BY the way, she wails....rocks the house wails. Tonight she wailed for 30 min and then woke up an hour later and wailed for 45.
MAybe she is teething.
Thanks again for all advice. I will try anything...even a 6 pm bedtime if need be.

Re: 7 nights of crying (Ferber) and not subsiding!
Are you going in and checking her in intervals? Does that work for your DD or does that only make things worse?
Perhaps try go in intervals - say, 5 min, 10 min, 15 min ... if she hasn't fallen asleep by then, stand by the crib until she falls asleep. Then, make your intervals longer and longer each night (or every other night).
Also, if she's teething, it may not be the best time for CIO ... right?
Sorry this is so hard.

This is exactly what I have been doing, but I willl try standing by her crib after a reasonable amount of time.
Yes, if she is teething, I guess I should stop....but I am so tired....I don't know how people can stay up all night with their babies for extended periods. I just wanted to make it to 6 months and then ferberize...I never thought it might not work I guess its back to sleepless nights. It doesn't help that my 4 yr old isn't sleeping well. And he was "ferberized" so easily...is there any hope?
