Re: 7 YEAR OLD GIRL PARTIES
My DD turned 7 in September and she LOVES to cook and bake so we did a "baking party" in our backyard. I set up a big tent with a bunch of tables and chairs and the best part???..................I didn't have to worry about the mess AT ALL since we were outside so even if frosting, cake, and candy got everywhere it didn't matter.
For the cake decorating part I made chocolate and vanilla cupcakes and big sugar cookies for the girls, they each got two cupcakes and a big cookie to decorate. I set up tables with frosting, sprinkles, candy, etc. so they could all decorate their own goodies. I also got cute little plastic boxes from the dollar store and personalized them with their name. As they finished decorating I put their goodies in the box and wrapped it in cellophane for them to take home. I also got each girl a white apron and chef's hat and before we did any cake decorating they all got to design their own apron and hat using fabric markers. They all looked SO cute decorating their cupcakes wearing chef's hats and aprons, they had so much fun!
It was such a cute party, WAY cheaper than any party place for the same thing, and the girls all had a blast! I served them pizza for lunch and I made a big cake for dessert.

Re: 7 YEAR OLD GIRL PARTIES
We have done a lot of home parties with great themes. If you aren't opposed to having it at home, you can make it exactly how you want. This year we decided on having a party at American Girl, so I'll miss the home party thing. But, last year we did an "Eloise at the Plaza" theme, and did a spa, room service, hotel gift shopping, movie, etc. It was super girly, and the girls LOVED it.
If you are having it out (and depending on where you live), Cupcake Girlz is cute, as is Bling it On. Also the girlie spa places like the PP mentioned.
