pros and cons for Oven- pls hop in!
hey everyone- im researching appliances and love the look of the GE double door ovens-
the one i really like the look of is the Profile line, which is 2399. this has black glass around the windows
the other is the regular GE line, which is $1949 has stainless steel all around the windows
A) i LOVE the look of the black but cant see spending that much for a trim color. is there a huge difference in quality between the regular GE line and the Profile?
B) should i be considering a regular oven that has the little warming drawer on the bottom? i feel like my mom never uses that drawer, just for storage of baking pans etc.
those of you that have the double door ovens, do you regret them? is each section really small and not worth having two smaller sections?

did you read reviews on line? I know some of the GE profile stuff did not get great reviews. My microwaveis GE Adora, same shit but HD brand, is a total POS!!!! Crapped out exactly one week after the year warranty expired!!!

Re: pros and cons for Oven- pls hop in!
I have GE Profile appliances.
I have double ovens - top oven gets the most use - doesn't heat evenly. If I put in two trays of cupcakes/muffins/whatever side by side - one side cooks faster.
I have a cooktop that is pretty decent - I have no complaints but I'm not a great cook so even if it was pretty bad - I probably wouldn't realize.
Bottom line - I wouldn't recommend my oven.

I have GE appliances - I never use the warming drawer. I just use it to store our baking pans. I have mid range GE appliances in stainless steel. So far I am happy with them. ETA: I really thought I would need the warming drawer, but it is a complete waste. I was good at negotiating so it really only cost $10 more than a non warming drawer one. To use the warming drawer you have to preheat the regular oven for 30 minutes so that the drawer is warm. It really is not all that. I don't think it is necessary. I have GE model number JGB820SEPSS 30" Freestanding Gas Range with 5 Sealed Burners, 5.0 cu. ft. Convection Oven, Self Clean, Warming Drawer, PowerBoil 17K Burner and Reversible Cast-Iron Grill/Griddle: Stainless Steel
BTW - We never use the middle burner and the griddle is in the "warming drawer." It looks nice , but it is completely useless. I also really love to cook.

My mom has a GE Profile and she'd would never do it again. It's not even heat and she's had the touch panel replaced twice. It's maybe 3 yrs old and she keeps a manual thermometer in there She's a very big cook and it runs almost everyday.

Re: pros and cons for Oven- pls hop in!
My mom has a GE oven with a warming drawer and hates it! She uses it for storage and regrets getting it. I just had to buy new applicances for my kitchen and decided against the double oven. Too many people said they mostly use the top anyway and its smaller because of the bottom oven. My friend had issues cooking her turkey because it was so small. Also the bottom oven is very low to the ground.

I have GE Profile double oven and I love it. I mostly use the smaller top one but when I entertain I use both.

Check out the GE cafe series. We are most likely getting the dbl oven in this series- the reviews are good.

I have a double oven, and I wouldn't say its smaller then a regular oven.
Yes the bottom oven doesn't get used a lot, but it comes in handy for holidays and when we do a lot of baking for the holiday season. I can bake twice as much. I also have a warming drawer thats separate from the ovens, that i only use for holidays

I don't have fancy schmancy appliances like the ones you're considering. But I do have the warming drawer and I like it. I don't use it all the time...just when I have company, and it does come in handy.
