8 days old and still no name...
My very good friend had a baby last week. A healthy baby boy! He is still nameless... This doesn't sit well with OCD need to know all the information Type A me So, my question to you all is this:
How long did your baby go without a name?

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
We had a name before the birth. I was hoping it would change for the 1 day until I had to fill out the birth certificate.
I had several good friends who secretly referred to the baby by the name I choose until I got used to the name it was.
eta. 8 days without a name is too long. They had 10 months to pick out & settle it.

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
With DS we had no idea what to name him, we were still undecided until we were ready to go home.

We decided before the birth. We didn't tell most people, but we knew. DS we knew a few months before the birth. DD we were more undecided on and probably only really settled a few days beforehand.

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
Jake was nameless for the whole time I was in the hospital. He was not named until the very last minute when I had to fill out the birth certificate. So, 5 days!

officially, probably 12 hours or so. I "knew" who they were but it wasn't written down for a while after they were born - they were Twin Male #1 and #2

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
My DD wasn't named until I was being discharged and had to fill out my paperwork for her birth certificate. So 2 days...
My youngest sister was not named for more than a week too. She was my parents 6th and they couldn't think of a name. Her original birth certificate says Baby Girl LastName. She was then named and has an amended certificate.

I am so Type A, OCD, anal too. She had her name 20 weeks into my pregnancy. It would have drove me batty if she didn't.

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
that is too long, JIMO. We had a few names picked out and when they came out, the dr said okay Baby A is out, what is the name? and then the same for Baby B. I couldn't go that long without naming my baby(ies).

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
"unofficially", DS was named right away. When I filled out the birth certificate form is when it became official. I even turned to DH and said, are you sure you are OK with this name because now it is for real! I actually picked out his name when I was about 3 months pregnant, when we decided who we were naming him after. I always loved the name. Thankfully we did not have a girl because we could not agree on a name!

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
Yeah, 8 days would be way too much for me. What do you call the baby or how do you refer to it. We had it narrowed down to a few choices and then as soon as she was born we went with what felt right. I'd think even if you were having trouble you'd have to pick something by the time you leave the hospital. I don't know. But I too am a type A.

LMAO - we did that during our level 2 with Jack!!!!!!!!
Ava went nameless until I was about 30 or so weeks along. DH and I couldn't agree. Originally she was going to be Anna Francine after both my grandmothers but DH said it was too italian LOL. He wanted Jacqueline so we compromised with the names we wanted so hence Ava Jacqueline.
IMO 8 days is a bit long but I can understand. I think picking names is so hard to do. I can't have any more kids b/c they would definitely be nameless.

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
Nikolas didn't have a name for about a day and half .. we had our boys names narrowed down to about 3-4 but were waiting to 'meet' him to see which name suited him best.. and we wanted to just spend time with him before naming him. Now we know we were right - he's definitely a Niko

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
We settled on Justin when I was about 6 months pregnant. I wanted Justin all along and my DH finally agreed! I wanted Justin Ryan and he didn't like it. Then my DH went to get his hair cut one day and came back and said "What about Justin Anthony?" I loved it and even better than Justin Ryan. We didn't know if he was a boy or girl so when they said "It's a boy!" then he was Justin Anthony!

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
My parents brought me home nameless. They finally decided when I was about a week old mainly because my mom got tired of calling me "the baby".

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
well, we knew if we had a girlthat we wouldname her Alyssa before we even got prego - so at 20 weeks when we found out it was a girl...she already had her name.
8 days and still no name is a little strange to me but who am I to say? I would just find it hard to have my little boy home and not be calling him by name....

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
I knew if I had a boy he was going to be named Bryan. I love the name. As they were wheeling me into the OR (unplanned c section) DH turns to me and says "Hun, I think we should come up with a girls name...Quick"...LOL We agreed if we had a girl she would have been Lauren Nicole. About 10 mins. later, Bryan arrived
8 days is too long for me not to have a name picked out. I was getting stressed going into the O.R. like, I have to pick a name NOW!

Re: 8 days old and still no name...
We know someone who didn't name their baby until she was about 2 months old. That was overseas though. IMO, 8 days is too long so 2 months is definitely way too long!
We named DD about 20 minutes after her birth, when we got to hold her for the first time. We had a favorite name at about 34 weeks but we didn't officially call her that until after she was born.
