8 months and still eating baby food
Sara will be 8 months on October 15th. Is it bad that I am still giving her all baby food? She has no teeth so I havent attempted big people food yet. Any suggestions would be great as to when I should start.

Re: 8 months and still eating baby food
Jacob is 9 months and he still mostly eats baby food. He only has 2 teeth on the bottom and when i have tried real food he chokes on everything, so basically he is still eating baby food. I will let him knaw at bagels and a baby cookie here and there but i take it away when it gets very moist. I wish he could eat more big people food, but I guess every baby is different and he just cant handle it.

Re: 8 months and still eating baby food
DS is 2.5 years old and still eats baby food. She has a jar dinner w/ meat about 2x's per week. She also has the fruits everyday. She still enjoys it and it's very convenient and nutritious.

Re: 8 months and still eating baby food
My son is 18 months and still eats baby food. He has mostly fruits and vegetables but also has dinners. He is picky with regular vegetables and I want to make sure he is at least having them in the baby food every day.

Re: 8 months and still eating baby food
Miranda is 1 and still eats baby food from time to time. I don't think we started many finger foods until 9 months and really didn't do a lot until late 10 early 11 months. Now it's kind of a mix of everything. You'd be surprised what they can eat with no teeth. Miranda has no teeth in all the way. Her two top teeth are one bottom tooth are making their way in and there isn't much she can't chew.

Same here - 18 months and I still give the occassional jar just to make sure the nutrients are there!

Re: 8 months and still eating baby food
My son was basically on all baby food until 11 months old. My dr told me not to start table food before then (besides things like cheerios and puffs and teething cookies and small pieces of cheese - I started puffs around 8.5 months). My dr's philosophy was there is no reason for table food at a young age and it is just a choking risk. He scared me enough esp since my son had no teeth (although he was on all table food by 11 months and didn't get any teeth until 13.5 months). My son is 20 months and still likes baby food even though he is a great table food eater. I give him baby food when his teeth are bothering him and he boycotts table food.
I would start slow. Try puffs. Break them up and feed them to your child and then more on to cheerios. As they progress and learn to feed themselves I would move on to uther small soft foods like cheese.

Alex too, he eats fruits and veggies and some meals too. I use them to supplement his meals. He eats them and it makes it easier on me knowing that he is getting enough fruits and veggies.
