$8 square foot for Porcelain Tile (20x20 tiles)?
Is this even possible?
We went to Procida Tile in floral park yesterday and bought our kitchen tile. It's a high quality, high traffic tile.
The reason we went there is that they had an ad for 50% off. The saleperson who helped us was very helpful but I think they pulled the wool over our eyes and said that normally that tile is $8.00, we got it for $3.99.
They also gave us the whole song and dance how they only had such and such of it left and if we didn't get it now it would be gone. If we came back on Monday it would be $8 a square foot.
We ended up buying it (not bc of their schmoozing) but because it was exactly what we wanted. However if they pulled a fast one we are not going there for our bathroom tile....

totally possible. I worked for a whole distributor of ceramic & porcelain tile. Mark up is pretty large from manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer to customer. They probably had a large amount in inventory and are trying to get move it by dropping the price. Make no mistake though, they probably only purchased it for $2/sqft and had it marked up pretty high.
