Worst Winter You Can Remember
I wrote this question on another thread, but I thought maybe it would be best in its own.
So what is the worst winter you can remember (meaning frequent snow and school/work closings)?
I honestly can't remember anything worse than this.

Worst Winter You Can Remember
This one is pretty up there... There was the blizzard of 1996, I was in 7th grade and that ONE storm got us a week off from school (and saved my behind with a science fair project). I think we got 3 or 4 feet of snow from that one storm.

I feel like I remember hearing about the blizzard of '96. I was 9 though when it happened, so I was probably oblivious to how bad it was

I was in 9th grade and at a Catholic school so we got plenty of days off. BUT I had previously been a public school student and remeber being pissed bc public schools closed that year and had never closed for me from K-8 lol

I remember school closing 2 days each 2 weeks in a row in 96.
2011 was pretty bad, I was pregnant with DS #2 and DH was travelling and we had snow so bad I couldn't get out the doors of my house.
I think that was the year that it snowed so heavy and frequently that we had our Christmas stuff up until March, because it was stuck under the snow.

This. I actually don't think this year is all that bad-I think it's just because we really didn't have much snow at all last year.
I think it was 3 years ago that we also had a decent amount of snow.

february 1995... that winter there was NO snow until february 4th... i went into labor in the middle of it 
janurary 1996... what a blizzard! i believe the whole metro area shut down!
now, winter of 2010/2011 was no joke.
SO had just moved up here. everyone had told him that our winters weren't too bad. lol he was in for a bit of a surprise. my neighbor had to dig us out more than once with his snowblower.
and this one will be the one i remember as our goodbye winter!

I don't think I have one that stands out but I spent my early childhood where the cold and snow were a regular thing and then 5 years in Syracuse which is the snowiest city.

Worst Winter You Can Remember
Where I live Winter 2010-2011 was bad.
I remember it being the end of March and it was still snowing on a regular basis. I almost had a breakdown one day as I was shoveling since I could not take anymore snow.

Early 90's, back to back snow storms.
So much snow on the street, there was no where to put it. Couldn't dig out the cars, couldn't get to work.
Early 80's - built an igloo in my backyard. Stayed for a very long time because it was so cold.

This! This one is the worst I can remember as far as frequency of snow and cold temps! But the blizzards of 94 and 96 stand out too. I lived in BKLYN and city schools never ever closed...I think I got my first ever snow day in 94 in 6th grade!

2010/2011 was bad for me. I had just given birth to my son in late October (after a HOTTT summer of 2010!) and I had to tote this tiny newborn here, there and everywhere because of his older sisters and it seemed like it snowed every freakin' day!

I definitely remember some major snow storms. I just can't remember schools/work places being closed with such frequency.
I do remember one very bad blizzard on December 31st, 2005. My friends and I were invited to a party in PA to ring in the new year, and we insisted on going despite the weather. A normally 2.5 hour trip took just over nine hours. We saw so, so many accidents.
I was driving...looking back, I can't believe I did that. So scary! I'm not sure if the snow was as bad here though. We were driving from LI to northeast PA.

Yes. I was in labor during one of the storms and scared we wouldn't make it to the hospital. I remember weeks after that there was so much snow I thought I was going to lose my mind being stuck inside with a newborn.
Also 1993 or was it 1994? I lived in Brooklyn on Shore Rd. It was hard enough finding a parking spot on a good day. I remember people digging out & leaving cones & garbage cans to try to keep people from parking in the spot. It was crazy!

Worst Winter You Can Remember
i don't remember the winter of '94, but i was too little to remember that. I do remember my parents saying that in the 70's and 80's the winters used to be a lot worse. snowstorms dumping more than 2 feet of snow were common.
I remember the winter of'96. Terrible! i was in 9th grade and my sister was in 8th grade. It was the first time either one of us had ever had a snow day!
I don't really remember the winter of '10 that much. i remember that DH and I were engaged and there were days when we couldn't see each other because the roads were really bad or snowed in.
Last year when I was in labor giving birth to my DD there was a blizzard and lots of family weren't able to make it to the hospital to come visit me.
This year has to be one of the worst in recent history! we've gotten so much snow already and we are not even half way through winter!
