8k tax credit question

Did anyone here receive the tax credit?

Can someone who received it explain the process to me?

If we owe nothing at tax time do we get a check for 8k?

If we owe 2k at tax time do we get a check for 6k?

Is that how it works?

Some people have been telling us we don't actually get a check for the money

Yes you do, you get a check from the government.

to my understanding it is up to 8K you might get less depends on some factors, it is given as part of your rebate on taxes when you file them, so if you owe they may deduct it from that amount, etc but you have to check with your accountant.

yes, we refiled after closing

DH went on Turbo Tax, added the credit(no charge) in 4 weeks, mailed a check for 8K

If we owe nothing at tax time do we get a check for 8k?
yes, but you don't have to wait for tax time, you can do it now

If we owe 2k at tax time do we get a check for 6k?
yes

Yes, you actually get a check for 8k!
We didn't believe it either, until we got it.

We filed an amendment to our taxes and took about 6 weeks and we got the check in the mail!

We applied for it at the time we filed our taxes, so it was included in our refund check. Thanks to that, we have a new bathroom!

ok thanks girls!

we even went as far as to call the IRS b/c we had some other questions we had to ask we bought property (land) in 2006 and we weren't sure if that would exclude us from getting the tax credit - but thankfully we can still get it.....

we heard from some people here and there that we were wrong and you don't actually get money....but as far as what DH and I read on the govt website and from what the IRS customer service told us we'll get a check
