9 days left of school...
And 3 days this week are bs.
Wednesday is "curl up with a good book day". Dd can bring in 3/4 books, a towel to lay on and stuffed animal
Thursday end of the year party starts at 1
Friday is fun day. Her schools field day.
Really? Why are they still in school at this point. Yes,,she's learned a lot and I know how hard teachers work, but this seems ridiculous.
Vent over.

I was ready to rip my hair out. At least if school is over he's in camp

Have to get those 180 days in!
My DD has half days all next week (3.5 hours of school), such a waste! My son's last day is today (high school), and has to go in on Friday to take a Regent's test for 2 hours.

Friday is our last day. Two of which are 1/2 days. Last week we had:
A field trip to the arboretum
Field Day
Author's Tea (sitting on blankets, eating cookies, and looking at the writing our children did for the year.)
Today I went in for the 1st grade pick-nick which was ice cream, water, and playing games outside.
I will be in once more this week too.
They did have to create a second grade writing sample today. But there is a lot of relaxing and fluff. DS has not had any home work for the past few weeks and spelling tests all stopped 2 weeks ago.

I am not complaining because although I am on maternity leave, I am a teacher and I know everyone is done. But....I just found out at the bus stop today that the kids only go in for an hour on Thurs. It would have been nice for the school to let someone know!

Personally, I think these days are great to have in the school calendar. It gives them a chance to have fun at school and be with their friends doing fun stuff. I think the Curl Up with a Book Day is great...great way to encourage the joy of reading. Field Day is great...great way to learn team work and get some competition.

I agree too. Although my DH had test all the way till his last week of school. But the field days, and graudation celebrations, I thought were great for the kids. He really enjoyed them.

I agree as well. I always loved the feeling as a kid, end of the year, change in routine, winding down, etc. Love it.
ITA. And as a former teacher, it was nice for us as well to have these "fun days" built in.
Both the teachers and kids work hard all year, it's so nice to have these scheduled fun events for everyone at the end of the year. It gives the kids a chance to socialize more and it's a nice, happy way to finish off the school year.
Not sure what's to complain about. Social activities are just as valuable and worthwhile as everything else throughout the year. School doesn't need to be about work up until the last second............especially at the elementary level.
I'm glad my DD has so many fun activities planned this month with her class. That's where the memories are made, these are the things she will remember about her childhood and school career.

 exactly. This post was a bit tounge in cheek, not a serious gripe about school. She has fun at school so I know she wants to go to all these days. I was just venting a bit.
