My company just sent this link to us. No interest at all but I am sure many do as they lined up in our town this weekend for them.

You have repeatedly told everyone on here that you get yourself tested every week, not sure why you'd have "no interest" in something that can save you four trips to urgent care waiting in line.
There is really no reason to not take advantage of having free tests on hand. Definitely will save me the trouble of taking my kids to the ped if they are exposed and have to test to return to school.

These tests produce a very high number of false negatives. It doesn’t hurt to have them on hand but if you test negative and feel sick please either get a PCR and/or be cautious in where you go and who you see (as you would for any illness).

We are not allowed to use the home tests for work. They just forwarded the same link if people are interested.

I am unsure how school or work would allow home tests. It's very easy to fake a home test to get a negative result to go to work or school. You would think you would need an "official" test result from a doctor or testing center. How would they know you didn't run it under the tap water?

Our school wont take a negative rapid for anything.... If you have a positive rapid, they want you to confirm after 2 days with a pcr - if pcr is negative, you can return.
They recommend the rapid tests if you have symptoms and you want to know if you have Covid... But they cant be used to determine that you dont have Covid.

That would make sense. Not just due to user error or people cheating it. Also due to the high rate of false negatives on these things.

They've never specified (that I can recall) that you can't take a home test. That aside, to return to school after exposure they don't require a PCR, the rapid test is fine. I've had to do it twice now with my kids.

Well my job surely has. I have mentioned that before on this board and I would think most wouldn’t allow it.

Our district will accept a positive home test, as well as mine and DH jobs. Negatives must be PCR or rapid. That being said, just after new years DH and DS tested positive on home tests and I was negative. Took myself and DD to her pedi for rapids and I was positive, she was negative. Her PCR came back positive the next day.

Wouldn’t you go for a test if it turned positive instead of losing out of work in case it was wrong? Not you, but in general why would anyone do that?

Well of course they would accept a positive but I'm talking about if you need to be negative to go to work or school i would think you'd need something official so they know you didn't fake the test to show negative.
My boss had to go to a work event at Nasdaq a few months ago, like in the Fall. He needed to be vaccinated, masked and show not one but TWO negative home tests by uploading a picture of both tests on different days to some portal. This was back before the world went test happy so home tests were easy to find. I said to him...how do they know if you took that test, your girlfriend took it, your dog took it or you dipped it in a diet coke? So ridiculous

It’s all ridiculous. How about we give out home flu tests and strep and bronchitis and, and, and.

There you go. Knock on wood I was very lucky with that as my kids barely ever got sick. When they did though, they were doozies, diabetes, accidents, something fractured. Not the flu or strep, etc. Same with myself. Don’t remember going to the doctor much as a kid.

My district is using the home tests for test to stay so it’s nice to have them. They will also accept a positive antigen test and do not require PCR tests any longer.
