99 year old man divorcing wife after 77 years...due to affair in 1940s!
Wow!
A 99-year-old Italian man is divorcing his 96-year-old wife after discovering that she conducted an affair in the 1940s, reports the Telegraph.
The couple have been together for 77 years, but time was no healer when the husband, referred to by Italian lawyers as Antonio C, found evidence of the affair while rummaging throw a chest of drawers. Having confronted his wife, who confessed to the affair, he is now seeking a divorce.
According to UPI, Antonio came across letters his wife had received from an old lover more than 50 years ago, making him suspect an affair. It is also reported that the couple have five children and 12 grandchildren along with a single great grandchild.

Holy cow! 77 years together- that is amazing. However it makes me sad that this 99 yr old feels like he needs the divorce.

Holy cow! 77 years together- that is amazing. However it makes me sad that this 99 yr old feels like he needs the divorce.
DH would do that same thing, doesn't matter how long we were together. Cheating is a deal breaker for us, i don't blame the old man!! It's sad though, i agree...long time to be together!

Why the heck bother at that age???...................by the time that divorce goes through they will both probably be dead.  Seriously, after 77 yrs...........who gives a cr@p. At this point I don't see the point in even bothering to end it.

I totally get what you're saying and thought the same thing! I guess he probably feels betrayed and like his whole 77 year marriage was a lie

Yea, I get that. It just seems like at this point, it's more trouble then it's worth. Crazy story though.

i can understand the many reasons that would make someone file for divorce, but honestly, at this point in their lives, i would just stay to stay together. They have been together for so long and have shared so much together.

Sorry but if this is true (which I don't know why I feel this isn't) then I think there's a LOT more going on than just this one thing. I mean at 99 its kinda hard to make a change after 77yrs of the same life. So he wants out for a reason OTHER than just this (me thinks)
Good news.. nowadays the affair you have will be on an outdated systems unreachable by the time we're 90  (i kid, i kid)

I just realized the dates and that they were probably married for about 6 years when this affair took place! To think in that time after it was never un covered is just amazing.
I do feel bad for the old man because he probably feels so betrayed.
