A 14 inch shaft??
Ok, so I really like these... but it says that the "shaft" is 14 inches. Is that normal? How do I know if my shaft is 14 inches? where do you measure from? your ankle??

Re: A 14 inch shaft??
i think the shaft means the width at the top of boot (?) so you'd measure your own calf

Re: A 14 inch shaft??
Actually, I just looked again and this is what it says:
"Shaft is aprox 14 inches tall"
If it was the width I think it would say "shaft is aprox 14 inches wide" right?

Re: A 14 inch shaft??
I was wondering why this was on Fashion & Beauty, then realized it was about boots....
I think to measure the shaft you would start at either the ankle or where your heel hits -- I'm not sure.

Re: A 14 inch shaft??
google to the rescue..
Boot Shaft: This is the part of the boot that covers the leg.
Shaft Height: This measurement is taken on the inside seam of the boot, and is measured from where the shaft meets to sole of the boot, to the top of the shaft. To determine where the top of a boot will hit on your leg, measure the height of the shaft against the inside of your leg, starting at your instep.
Circumference: This is the measurement around widest part of the shaft of the boot.

Re: A 14 inch shaft??
It should be just below the knee, depending on how long your legs are.
I had to measure too befor e ordered boots. I have a pair of 15 inch high boots, that leave about an inch of room below my knee.

Now I need to find a ruler....
if you can't find a ruler use paper and money. seriously!. measure w/ 11" side of paper, take a bill (6") fold it in half = 3", stack the paper and bill against your leg = 14"
