A ? about transitioning to a bed
Since my DD had become fully proficient in climbing out of her crib, we went and got her a toddler bed (she's a little over 2 BTW). She was super excited for a "big girl bed" and watched her daddy put it together and said that he "made it for her." The first day we put her in it, Monday, she took a 2hr nap and slept the whole night without any problems. Last night, she decides to get up and run into our room every hour ALL NIGHT. UGH!! So, my question is do we close the door so she can't get out? Do we go and lay down with her untl she falls asleep (did this ast night twice)...do they just eventually learn to stay in thier own bed??? Help, me and DH are zombies today.

Re: A ? about transitioning to a bed
can you use a gate in the doorway??? Or did you say she can climb over that too? They make gates that are taller than normal ones. We've got a tall one at the top of our stairs since the stairs are really steep.
Other than that I'm lost

Re: A ? about transitioning to a bed
Try a gate at the door or a double gate one on top of another so she cant climb over it Another question where did you get the toddler bed from Thanks

Re: A ? about transitioning to a bed
I guess I will get a tall gate as she climbed over the regular one we have.
Kimmie, we got our bed at Toys R Us. It was $69.99. White wood bed - goes with her furniture and takes the same mattress as the crib.

Re: A ? about transitioning to a bed
I would definitely not lay down with her (I've seen this become a bad habit with my friends!) and I'd put a gate on her door. The novelty of getting up will wear off after a while.
Maybe try explaining that the rules of being in a big girl bed include staying in bed until she sees the sun in the morning?
