Re: A Dangerous Moment for Islam and Europe
I read another article on CNN that many muslim gropus linked the cartoon w/ people in Israel, they claim Israel is angry because Hammas(SP?) group won the elections in Palestine. I'm sorry, that makes no sense whatsoever. These people are totally ignorant. I understand they are upset and have every right to,. but they have taken things to such an extreme. It's scary to think that it seems like it's war, a religious war. Muslims against the rest of the world.

I hear you. Like I said yesterday, boycott, protest, do all that but once it turns violent, I have no respect or patience for the protesters.

Me either, I just can't sympathize with the riots and the hate mentality. It makes no sense. The cartoon came from a Danish journalist, why are they linking it to Israel? That is beyond me.

I comepletely agree with you! My parents are from Israel and my so is my husband. I go there pretty often and since we plan on going more and more now that we are having a baby. I disagree with so much of what these extremists say. But I will always defend their right to say it. But when it escalates to violence, that is when I beleive they are completely wrong! They have no respect for anyone with a different view than theirs.

No problem. While this violence is inexcusable, having travelled to Europe and with family there, I do know that race relations and religious differences are not well tolerated there. Many Muslims are treated like 3rd class citizens. Again, riots are not the answer but much like the race riots here in the late 60s, this is what intolerance and hate breeds.

I agree with this also. If they are suppressed by their religion and then even more so by the country they live in, then anger & hate are bound to breed within them.

True, yet they are to blame for their own feelings of alienation...they DO NOT want to live democraticly! They have more respect for a "Holy Cow" than they do for their women So sad.
Why didn't they defend their religion & get this rallyed-up when thousands of innocent ppl were killed in 9/11 in the name of Allah & Mohammed????? And these are the same ppl the U.S. wants to bring "democracy" too.. yeah sure,no problem.

The US wants to bring them democracy, I don't think they want democracy.
And even when there is democracy, look who gets elected - Hamas!
All in all, a very sad state of affairs
