We did it the past 2 years in Strasburg, but are skipping it this year b/c we're going camping in June. Chat Icon

The boys will love it. There's a bunch of things to do besides take a ride on Thomas, so you can spend a few hours there.

If you're going to Strasburg, go to Dutch Wonderland, too. It's so much fun for the little ones. The boys (and K) are still free - we're going in July.

HTH!

Re: A Day Out With Thomas?

We've been to the one in PA twice and then we've gone other times to just ride on the train and have lunch on it.. which was sooo much fun! The kids LOOOOOVED the thomas ride.. I will never ever forget the look on Jordans face the first time he saw Thomas (he was 2) If you go to Strasburg.. stay at the Red Caboose Motel it's old caboose's converted into rooms... the train tracks go right past it so you can watch Thomas come and go all day Chat Icon Chat Icon

We went on a weekend... it was busy but I think it's busy no matter what day... we stayed for 3 days...went on Thomas one day and to the train museum across the street (huge real trains inside - very cool!) then to dutch wonderland another day.. Also, ate lunch at the Red Caboose and watched the trains and dinner at the Plain & Fancy restaurant.. the kids LOVED the family style food... so yummy!

Re: A Day Out With Thomas?

OH! one suggestion.. we went during the summer and the winter.. i will NEVER do winter again.. it was sooo sooo cold and the wind whips across those field Chat Icon ouch! And there is a lot more to do in the summer ones.. the tents with activities weren't there in winter..AND it was so cold that the pipes froze at the Red Caboose so we had to shower and shovel the buckets of water into the toilet cause the shower wouldn't drain..ahhh good times Chat Icon Chat Icon

You'll have sooo much fun Chat Icon
The Red Caboose mind you is a little outdated and totally not luxury.. but the kids get a total kick out of it.

Do you think the couples room is too small for the 3 of us? We are trying to save money and the bigger room would be $130 more plus tax.

ETA: Sorry to totally hijack this post but I am so excited and thankful that this was brought up. I had no idea about it

If it's just 3 of you I think it'll be fine.. we had the family caboose and it had a bed and 4 bunks.. you prolly won't spend much time in it anyway.. the only difference would be the bunk room and all that is is bunks, no extra room.

Re: A Day Out With Thomas?

Has anyone been to the one's in CT? I am not sure if we want to just take a one day trip there, or do a few things on a 3 day trip.
