A debate I just had with a friend
I just debated this with a friend. Would you take your 13 year old child to Utopia? I'm referring to the store, Utopia. I think that most of you will know what Utopia is. I could describe it as a head shop but there is a lot more to it. Here is an online discussion about Utopia .

My side of the debate was that it wasn't an appropriate place. The child we were talking about is 13 but that is still too young. I'm very liberal but I did not like this idea at all.

That's a tough one...because I'm sure bringing a 13 year old there would only be for innocent intentions (they have a lot of cool stuff there), but ultimately we all know what a lot of people go there for. I wouldn't bring my DDs there...
Growing up we had what my parents called an interesting looking "sculpture" smack in the middle of our entertainment center...my brother and I never realized till we were much older that it was a BONG! My parents weren't "hip" and my mom would occasionally put flowers in it, truly never knowing what it was!!!!

I am on the fence. WHle I wouldnt bring my own dd to this type of store, that doesnt mean others wouldnt think it was perfectly fine. I dont want her in it bc I wouldnt be in it. I think if the parents find it okay for themselves then they wouldnt think twice about bringing their 13 yr old in. The age to me isnt the problem. Its the whole content. I dont find 13 yr old males to be as "young" thinking as we all were. Obviously this woman didnt think twice bc she did in fact take him in.

Sure, why not? There are tons of other things there that are not for drugs. And really if I were there with my child it could be a good opportunity to open a discussion if needed.
