A great question to ask a pediatrician
My MIL is in the medical field and I asked her is their anything that is missed for questions. She gave me this as a question:
Do they care for high risk-acutely ill children---if your hospital is not equipped to care for these situations--what hospital do they use?
Are they a neonatologist--or who do they use if one is needed?

Re: A great question to ask a pediatrician
Where I gave birth, my pediatrician was not involved with the selection of a neonatologist. I think that what you need to ask about is the policy of the hospital where you are giving birth.

Re: A great question to ask a pediatrician
A neonatologist is trained to handle the most complex and high risk situations. Basically you're asking the pediatrician if he is trained to handle such cases as breathing disorders, infections and birth defects.
If he is not trained to handle such high risk situtations who would he recommend to handle such a situation if such care is needed.
If that doctor is associated with the hospital that you're delivering he may have a recommendation.
