A little aggravated (and a little long) NEW UPDATE

I had to tell my boss about bring PG because I have been to the Dr 4 times in a week and a half, and she was going to send in a complaint to HR for taking so many sick days. She in turn told my immediate supervisor to handle my current project while I was gone. This girl is really paranoid & was very confused as to why. She actually thought I was getting promoted for some reason, but anyway my boss told her. I said this was fine as long as she understood I told them in the utmost of confidence & I expect discretion.

So today I am in the lunchroom and 2 co-workers from my department come up and ask me how I am feeling with these sh!t-eating grins on their face. I say fine. They say, Just fine? I say yeah & they are like, Oh, OK then. She obviously told them, and I know the three of them are "friends" outside work. I am really upset because I did not want the whole world to know, PLUS she broke my confidentiality, PLUS my family does not even know yet!

I wanted to go to HR, but then that involves telling more people and I am not even sure what I would say.

Re: A little aggravated (and a little long)

I had this same issue last week. My boss called me into her office screaming at me saying I'm never there. First of all I work 10 hrs/day 5 days/week with no lunch and I only get paid for 40. The day she screamed at me I had my obgyn appt. the day before during lunch and left work at 6 to attend a getting pregnant/staying pregnant seminar at 6:30pm. I started crying when she was yelling at me and had to tell her where I was at 6:30 (even though it's not her business) and then had to tell her that I was pregnant and it's high risk so I didn't plan to tell her until my 2nd trimester. I can't believe I had to tell her b/c she was yelling at me about drs. appts.! I feel so uncomfortable here now working with her.

I would DEFINITELY go to HR. That is a huge issue that should be attended to. If you don't address it, how many more people will they tell? You need to have HR call them all in and address it a.s.a.p.

Ditto. They broke a managerial confidence.

And HR MUST keep these things confidential, so they won't say anything to anyone else.

Plus, I would want to cover my own *** in case anything else happens with either boss or supervisor down the line.

Sorry this happen. It totally sucks!

Thanks. I work in a very "young" industry, and although they are all around my age they have very different priorities. It is a very gossipy office.

Re: A little aggravated (and a little long)

If you go to HR be prepared to have a HELL of a time for the next few months. Your boss is going to be a total *****..but it already sounds like she is.

I would find a new job asap. This will get worse as you get more pregnant and once you have your baby.

I actually scheduled an interview after my last sono, and I am still looking for legit telecommute positions. I was looking to make a change before the BFP, so now it is really the top of my list.

Thanks! Chat Icon

Re: A little aggravated (and a little long)

I hope you find something soon. Unfortunately I can't leave my job as I need the maternity leave. I'm so stressed out at work now all of the time, I'm on eggshells all day. I'm only 6 weeks pregnant too so I know this is not healthy for me and I have a long way to go before I go out on leave. My boss did say she wouldn't tell anyone so hopefully that is the case.

Re: A little aggravated (and a little long)

UPDATE: DH just called & started apologizing, then he asked me not to get mad. So I think that he is hurt or wrecked the car or something - NO. A bunch of girls in his office got him a congrats card! I know it is a nice gesture, but HE ALSO TOLD HIS BOSS IN CONFIDENCE! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Now 10 people at my job & his entire company knows, but we still have not told our families. I know in the grand scheme of things this is not a big deal, but I am really upset by this. Who the F*&%^ are these people to tell everyone OUR BUSINESS. OOH and I almost forgot, one of the guys he works with has a son that plays baseball with DH cousin, so now I have to worry about his big friggin mouth. I really did not want to tell the families until we were out of the 1st tri. I am so po-ed.

Peope do stink. Maybe you should tell your immediate family. I'm sure they would rather hear it from you than through the grape vine. Chat Icon

Yeah I think I will tell them tonight after my sono.

I am really ticked off b/c my family does not all live in NY & they will all be together for Thanksgiving. It also puts me at 13 weeks then & would have been perfect.Chat Icon
