a little freaked out re cold cuts
I really don't have a question - just want to vent/freak out. I have been really good about eating the right thing, but I really wanted a turkey sub today so I had one from a reputable place and I toasted it in the toaster oven but it wasn't steaming hot. Now I'm convinced I am going to get listeria!!
Maybe I am overreacting - but I just can help but feel I did something horrible to the baby
Thanks for listening.

Re: a little freaked out re cold cuts
I've actually read that turkey is fine because it is cooked, not just cured or whatever the other meats have done to them. I wouldn't worry. I ate turkey sandwiches for lunch most of my pregnancy, and I have my little peanut here to prove that it didn't do any harm!

Re: a little freaked out re cold cuts
Had this conversation at dinner tonight. I told my sister (who already has a 19 month old) about the cold cuts and she goes 'We have the same dr...Trust me..Just don't touch fish!". She made me feel so much better. I love turkey but have cut it down to maybe 2x a week. I think you will be ok.

Re: a little freaked out re cold cuts
It is fine to have cold cuts!
when I was preggo, I had GD and I had to see a nutritionalist who specialized in GD - well cold cuts were a staple in my diet. I was pretty much laughed at when I mentioned my concerns about eating them during my pregnancy (more because I hate cold cuts and didn't want to but it was my best lunch option on my diet with my lifestyle). For the last 5 weeks of my pregnancy - I had a sandwich every day and I never cooked or nuked my meat. I ate ham, turkey and roast beef as staples.
